Obama: Urgent Action Needed for Economic Recovery

    President-elect Barack Obama on Thursday discussed his Recovery and Reinvestment Plan that he proposes will immediately create jobs and foster long-term economic growth. Despite the large initial cost of the plan, he expressed the urgent need of lawmakers to approve a taxpayer-funded stimulus. Obama's plan also includes sparking the clean energy economy, lowering health care costs, and investing in technology for schools.

Too bad he didn't call for an end to the costly debacle in Iraq & Afghanistan, and an end to the bailout going non-stop to the butchers in Israel.

At last a leader who thinks

At last a leader who thinks about the general population rather than the "have-mores" so dear to Resident Bush. While ending the occupation of Iraq will take time and diplomacy involving the occupied nation, preventing the disaster of economic collapse, the kind of hunger and want that was the signature of the Great Depression must take first place, if we are to continue as a nation and if millions of ordinary citizens are to avoid misery and early death from want. I lived through the Great Depression, and without humane approach to governance, few of us would have. More power to Obama and his foresight. He's right on. I disagree with him on a number of issues, as do we all, but not on this pressing issue.
