Idiot wind, blowing like a circle around my skull,
From the Grand Coulee Dam to the Capitol.
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,
You're an idiot, babe.
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.

- Bob Dylan

One thing is certain: martial arts movie star Chuck Norris does not like President Obama. Not at all. Not one little bit. Norris dislikes Obama so much, in fact, that he discussed running for the office of president of Texas, which doesn't exist, as part of a larger move by him and a variety of other right-wing groups to overthrow the American government and return honor and decency to the country.

No, really, he said all that, and more. Read it yourself if you don't believe me. The best part is where he writes, "Remember the Alamo!" Great stuff.

    Or something.

There's more. The owner of right-wing web forum Free Republic, Jim Robinson, was recently forced to post a truly deranged piece of apologia regarding the attention his web site recently earned from the Secret Service. "Unfortunately," wrote Robinson, "we are saddled with a communist sympathizer in the White House. I don't know whether or not he's an actual card carrying commie, but he's definitely an America-hating, anti-capitalist Marxist leftist who thinks communism is the way to go. So now comes the problem. If you feel it's your duty to call Obama a traitor and use salty language in your proposed resolution, ie, suggest the commie be keelhauled, walked off the plank, run up the yardarm, tarred and feathered and run out of Dodge, etc, etc, etc, you may be facing a visit from your friendly Secret Service."

"Keep," wrote Robinson in closing, "your powder dry." Yeah, O.K., good thinking.

    Or something.

Last month, Fox News celebrity Sean Hannity ran a poll on his web site. It asked readers what kind of revolution they'd prefer: military coup, armed rebellion or war for succession? "#3 seems most realistic," opined Hannity, "since it does present an opportunity for more homogeneous states to sort of capitalize on their homogeneity. However, it would likely lead to mass migrations of the minority partisans out of the rebel states. Of course, that may be fine with those states. Yet it seems that the ultimate paradox in any rebellion for freedom from within is that the ultimate goal is to impose the will of the rebels on everyone else through force. It seems the very foundation of representative democracy is ****tered if we accept that we exchange the power of ideas for the power of the sword upon each other. Nevertheless, I am still very interested in your own preferred form of revolt."

That page has since been removed from Hannity's web site, surely due to some technical glitch, but before it was taken down, "armed rebellion" appeared to be the most popular choice of the three.

    Of course.

Earlier this week, right-wing loudmouth Glenn Beck asserted during his radio show that President Obama's lifting of the ban on embryonic stem cell research would open the way for the genetic development of a new master race. "So here you have Barack Obama," said Beck, "going in and spending the money on embryonic stem cell research, and then some, fundamentally changing - remember, those great progressive doctors are the ones who brought us Eugenics. It was the progressive movement and it was science. Let's put science truly in her place. If evolution is right, why don't we just help out evolution? That was the idea. And sane people agreed with it! And it was from America. Progressive movement in America. Eugenics. In case you don't know what Eugenics led us to: the Final Solution. A master race! A perfect person. The stuff that we are facing is absolutely frightening. So I guess I have to put my name on yes, I hope Barack Obama fails. But I just want his policies to fail; I want America to wake up. "

One assumes this forthcoming master race will enjoy minds of greater volume and depth than Mr. Beck's, because, well, people just can't get much dumber than this. It would be a profound waste of genetic material if we went out and created some master race that, like Messrs. Beck, Hannity and Robinson, was incapable of rational thought or speech. Just an idea.

There is even more out there like this, from all over the place, with each seemingly trying to out-weird the other. So, yeah, it appears a fair portion of America's hard-right population, along with most if not all of their spokespeople and commentators, have been driven absolutely, positively bat-poop crazy by the election of and policies by Barack Obama.

The trend has been sucking in more and more high-profile members of the conservative community. Newt Gingrich was forced to jump up and down on Rush Limbaugh for saying he wants Obama to fail. Limbaugh responded by calling Gingrich "a fly-by-night operator," who can't be depended on and who "will sell you out." Republican Sen. Bob Bennett of Utah came close to threatening Arizona with an infestation of crickets to shut John McCain up about earmarks in the budget. Conservative commentator David Brooks called House Minority Leader John Boehner "insane" after Boehner called for a complete freeze on federal spending as an answer to the ongoing economic crisis.

Perhaps the most resounding cannonade fired at conservatives by a conservative was David Frum's Newsweek article lamenting the sad state of the party, and the ongoing catastrophe represented by the ascendancy of Limbaugh. "Even before the November 2008 defeat," wrote Frum, "even before the financial crisis and the congressional elections of November 2006 - it was already apparent that the Republican Party and the conservative movement were in deep trouble. And not just because of Iraq, either (although Iraq obviously did not help)."

"Every day," continued Frum, "Rush Limbaugh reassures millions of core Republican voters that no change is needed: if people don't appreciate what we are saying, then say it louder. Isn't that what happened in 1994? Certainly this is a good approach for Rush himself. He claims 20 million listeners per week, and that suffices to make him a very wealthy man. And if another 100 million people cannot stand him, what does he care? What can they do to him other than ... not listen? It's not as if they can vote against him. But they can vote against Republican candidates for Congress. They can vote against Republican nominees for president. And if we allow ourselves to be overidentified with somebody who earns his fortune by giving offense, they will vote against us."

Unfortunately for Mr. Frum and any conservatives who share his concerns, it does not appear any of the hard-right noisemakers have any intention of moderating either their tone or their tantrums. Maybe it will be another couple of months before the swelling from that electoral bruising goes down enough for these people to calm themselves, but at this point, it ain't happening.

The hardest part for the GOP? Neither Obama nor any other Democrat have been required to say a word about any of this. The right-wing shouters do their shouting, get shouted at by other right-wing shouters, and a perfect circle of Republican self-destruction is formed.

Stay tuned ... and, yeah, keep your powder dry.

    Or something.

Thank you William, for

Thank you William, for calling it like it is. The Republican party seems to be having late auditions for the movie "Idiocracy".

Yes, Remember the Alamo...

Yes, Remember the Alamo... the results of a false flag operation executed by the US military in order to relieve Mexico of the burden of administering what are now Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. The really laughable part is that most of the nut jobs involved in this behavior are being screwed by those doing the mainstream shouting and their ilk and the more they buy in the worse off they are.

Agree with all you say here

Agree with all you say here (oh jeez, does that make me a dittohead?!), but I'd throw in that the single act that doomed the GOP wasn't Limbaugh, who's been around for a while and has inspired angry non-voters to vote (see 1994), but that they got what they wished for in 2000. As long as the yahoos could complain, whether about George HW Bush being too moderate or about Bill Clinton chasing their daughters, they only helped the Republicans. But once the jerks got someone who'd do what they wanted - deregulate polluters, attack non-threatening countries, defund science, etc. - the emperor (conservative policy) was seen to be quite naked, and destructive. They may blame Obama all they like, but the nightmare that has castrated their movement was their beloved puppet from Texas.

William Rivers Pitt is as

William Rivers Pitt is as usual as eloquent as he is smart, Jim Robinson, Sean Hannity, et al. have the same mentality: The persecutors think they are being persecuted for persecuting. It's medieval; circular arguments dancing on the head of a pin. Sincere hopes that William Rivers Pitt is right about the circular firing-squad among conservatives. But there's a shadow of dread if one thinks not only of the whole cast of characters at Fox plus the radio cartel Clear Channel but also of the actual "red state" people. Resentments that Rush plays on are rooted in a felt sense of loss of advantage or privilege that was never real which provides an answer to the question for millions, viz. "Why am I not doing materially better?" They are not doing better for "bottom-line" reasons which they do not see because they hear voices telling them their erstwhile privilege is being given to others "less deserving." That's why Obama is trying so hard to say "I'm President of ALL the people." But a century of corporate propaganda is not so easy to reverse. Easy to understand Pitt's premise; more difficult is to address the huge shift necessary, amounting to an enlightenment experience, to end the physical threat. Progressive talk radio is a good thing, but it will have to grow exponentially to make a real difference. Isn't there some way to create a clearing house for pooling assets to buy up radio stations?

May the circle be unbroken!

May the circle be unbroken!

Crybabies cry. Spoiled

Crybabies cry. Spoiled brats pout. This is exactly the type of thing that was going on which led to timothy mcviegh's attack on America. The funny thing is that whenever they are in control and INTENTIONALLY LET an attack like 9-11 happen, they use it to blame the rest of us freedom-lovers for excessive freedom. When they are out of control they ENCOURAGE freedom haters to attack their country and never take any responsibility for their own actions. Remember when newt gingrich heralded the beginning of a new "age of personal responsibility" in the 90s, only to say he had no responsibility for the Oklahoma City attack, and when jesse helms threatened President Clinton's life only to say the exact quote was taken out of context. I hope these America haters all do move to texas and texas secedes from THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (since it's the only state that allows it's own flag to flown higher than the American flag). Then, finally, enough repugs will be gone that they won't be able to hold our country back any more with their UNAMERICAN temper-tantrums. When Mexico re-absorbs texas it will be fun listening to them ask the country they hate for help. AS RIGHT-WING RADIO WOULD HAVE SAID JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO: AMERICA - LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT! Since they hate their country, let's hope they follow their own advice and go somewhere where they're wanted.

CNorrris, RLimbaugh &Al are

CNorrris, RLimbaugh &Al are aging [probably somewhat impotent] not very intelligent old men, and they just cannot give up. 1126 Adelard: prefer reason to authority. These are the mean kids of the 'my kid beat up your honor student' bumpersticker: they attack honor and intelligence they do not have or cannot comprehend to validate themselves and get noticed. When doing this, they do not know they exhibit the social mechanics of the lower/poor class.

'Twas inevitable, they stand

'Twas inevitable, they stand for nothing very rationale, nothing for the regular person at all. Once people realize tehy aren't all becoming millionaires now, well, the jig is up for the majority tearing us all apart for more favors and priviledges for those rich selfish & pampered people . So all that's left are rich right wing media clowns to scream at each other. A perfect solution of which they seem incapable of avoiding. Hungry rats will start eating themselves after all. The country is better for this, perhaps a better second party will emerge. Make it one on the left this time. Then we can have real debates instead of silly ones about anachronism and nostalgia for times that really never were.

Excellent, Mr. Pitt, as

Excellent, Mr. Pitt, as usual. They dig their grave with every shovel full. They'll be six feet under in no time, maybe 12. I'm hoping they'll be so far under we won't hear even a tiny whine.

For years now since the Bush

For years now since the Bush years, I've been saying that in due time the Republican party would eat their own if they follow lock-step with their leaders ideas, no matter how insane or destructive and dangerous to our nation. Sadly, I was correct and I'm sure that I am not alone in my assessment of their collective madness. It is!

Great stuff and I wonder if

Great stuff and I wonder if they even bother to talk to the youth of the country? Young people I talk to think the Republicans have gone off of the deep end. Maybe this is the route to extinction. If your environment changes and you are unable to adapt, EXTINCTION! Good riddance I say.

Wow! And I thought the Dems

Wow! And I thought the Dems were the only experts at circular firing squads.

I was just

I was just wondering... Isn't talk about overthrowing the PROPERLY elected government (unlike its predecessor) call sedition, and isn't that a Federal crime?

Prior to following trail to

Prior to following trail to your excellent editorial, I have just spent the better part of fifteen minutes reading a Scientific American article about "Top ten myths about Sustainability" : it does call for intermediate neuronal activity. I say "intermediate" because I've seen "basic" and it does not catch on often and wide enough. It also calls for some form of scientific thinking or sound logical ability to "get it". It is a very good article about a fundamental societal problem. If we do not succeed in solving the riddle of sustainability, we will disappear as a specie. Or be brought down to 1% of actual population by cumulative cataclysmic and uncontrolable events of varying magnitude : unending series of ecological Madoffs... I read your article about the "Idiots", those who had Bozo in the White House as ultimate reference, the nucular one, and I keep asking myself why there still are so many of them, and how desperate it is to note how slowly our rational societal values evolve, our collective capacity to resolve issues threatening our survival. And the worst part of this is that most who fall in the "Idiot" spectrum happen to be creationists. Go figure... I remember, in the McCain-Palin campaign, how simplistic thinking, to the point of collective idiocy, was valued and promoted by Republicans. I guess your editorial adresses this issue from another angle. How come these people still have an audience ? This question haunts me.

Lots of good ideas here. But

Lots of good ideas here. But to simply laugh the idiots off is to encourage more of the same idiocy. Remember that "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil (and idiocy) is that good men do nothing." While we roll our eyes and talk about how crazy these TEXANS ARE, we need to remember that hate groups get started in much the same way as Norris et al are suggesting. Let us demand that our President and Vice-President and their families have all the protection they need. Because nut cases don't just talk. They often act out their nutty ideas.

Rush Limbaugh is doing us

Rush Limbaugh is doing us progressives (and the American people) a huge favor by being the nominal face of the Republican party. Rush and Ann Coulter. Could you imagine two worse caricatures for the right? We have finally stumbled on a bit of luck we never could have imagined just months ago. Obviously, time and the evolution of ideas have exposed the unsustainable right-wing agenda for the farce that it is. In the 1930s, reactionary forces found it much easier to mold public opinion and scapegoat the innocent and powerless. With today’s digital communication, it’s a lot different. Image matters and only the die-hards can tolerate repulsive characters like Limbaugh and Coulter. Why the corporate media continues to give them a platform is the topic for another day. Events have boiled the conservative movement down to the sincerely right-wing ideologues. Exhibit A: The US Senate. With important players such as Frum, Brooks and Gingrich dropping out it appears the center really is shifting--back to the center. The subject of my home state, Texas is a cautionary one. This state is still ruled by the descendants of the old oil-and-cattle-money oligarchy that fueled Joe McCarthy and J. Edgar Hoover a half century ago. A defiant Republic-of- Texas attitude still persists and it’s not hard to imagine a well-armed reactionary group trying to secede from a struggling US if they perceive themselves to be self-sufficient (as our current governor apparently does). One hopeful sign is the fact that all four major cities in Texas voted blue in the past presidential election. (Our electors still voted for McCain/Palin). To paraphrase a great Texas musician, Tommy X. Hancock, β€œ...there’s a lot of good people in Texas, there’s just not enough of them.”

Norris, Limburger, et. al.

Norris, Limburger, et. al. need to find a Total Gym for the mind, since their mental faculties are totally out of touch with current reality and need some serious shaping up.

But... lets not forget that

But... lets not forget that cheering on the listening masses to hate, to blame and to plot is a recipe for disaster and the people in Congress doing nothing to distance themselves from this type of behavior are just as guilty as the loud mouths making money from their mongering. Nothing good will come of it and we must say so as loud as they do...

Hilariouser and hilariouser.

Hilariouser and hilariouser. But I wish the Dem leadership would quit their mass emails urging everyone to insist that the Republican party "denounce Rush's extremism." Just goes to show the Dumbocrats can't recognize a blessing when it bites them in the butt. Wasn't it Napoleon who said "Never interrupt your enemy when he's committing suicide?"

This is hard to believe.

This is hard to believe. Are these people so enamored of the mentality that believes that giving money to the already wealthy is the solution to every problem that they will stoop to openly advocating murder and revolt in the country they profess to love? Of course, given an objective news media, they would barely have a voice at all, but as more people gather information off of the (for now) open internet, their waning influence will continue to generate resentment and increasing desperation. Hopefully violence will not be part of the equation.

Today I received an e-mail

Today I received an e-mail forwarded to me by a friend in South Carolina. We most definitely do not agree on politics - she is a staunch Southern Republican and I support Obama. She is not a racist, but she has been indoctrinated by the Pentecostal preacher at her Baptist Church very thoroughly in a fundamentalist perspective. She is not stupid and she is would give you her last penny if she thought you could use it more than she could. BUT, she is firmly behind the likes of Limbaugh, Robinson, Beck, and their ilk. She should know better, but she refuses to see anything other than their hate speech as fact. Her son, a specialist in governmental affairs in private consulting work for the government, supports her beliefs completely. These are not stupid people, but they were totally indoctrinated during the Bush Years. We can try to dismiss these nutjob Republican politicians and talking heads, but the fact is that people, decent people, listen to them and believe what they say. These people must not be dismissed as foolish or cannibalistic of fellow party members, they need to be taken quite seriously. The nation voted in President Obama, and these fanatics who are perhaps more anti-democracy than any in our history are unwilling to accept it. They are pushing every fear button of the older members of our society, poorly educated citizens of all ages, and those who have failed to see through their actions in 30 years. And, they are making headway in this campaign which is very scary. We have lived in a nation for so long where these idiots perpetuated being dumb as a virtue and now you can see why. Keep the powder dry? You better and you better be prepared to defend our nation from these traitors! Obama may not be someone you always agree with, but if these traitors have their way, civil war and the assassination of a President will be the least of our problems!

Is there a Republican alive

Is there a Republican alive who can spell "treason"?

Chuck Norris - Thank you for

Chuck Norris - Thank you for stepping up to be the spokesperson for the GOP. I couldn't have picked a better representative myself. Your talk about secession from the union is priceless, but to be fair to history (sorry Virginia) it isn't the first time a bunch of white, disgruntled rednecks have talked of a civil war. A funny thing is, no one I know of would find Texas worth fighting to keep. So before you initiate the bubba brigade, can you please give Austin to California? Last I checked, Austin was an Island surrounded by Texas, Austin is okay, but definitely different from the rest of Texas. I guess this means no more informecrials huh Chuck? Can we live without the crappy, made in china exercise equipment you peddle? Maybe a few more details before you take Texas from the union though. Can you take the debt your patron saint, and highest IQd person in your state, the great "Dubbya" created? That would be great. Also, maybe the debt his dad incurred too, though both Bushes are really from CT, but you can probably slip it in. A full 90%+ of the American debt was incurred while a Bush was either president of vice president. It's only fair you keep this debt. Also, can you please take Cheney (and Wyoming), Haliburton, Fox news, Rush, and Ann with you? I'm getting tired of listening to these spoiled babies cry foul play from an elected mandate. I know the notion of a fair election is foreign to these brats of the neocons, but come on, enough already. You guys lost... Get over it! I think I'd like to see this civil war Chuck speaks of. I can just see the slogan for the Texas battle flag, waved highly and proudly... "Don't misunderestimate me... Chuck - Hurry please, take texas!

I thing that's war of

I thing that's war of SEcession, willum. WE're faced with a Republican perfect storm: the election of an African-American President--who is competent, well, liked, calm and eloquent--and eho is cleaning up the godawful mess the Repubs have made. It's that combination of the old racist hysteria with the less drunk judgement that Barack Obama is going to be n excellent president despite their apocalyptic ravings. They'll be looked at as fluoridated-water fanatics after this.

I have no problem with Chuck

I have no problem with Chuck Norris as President of Texas. In fact, I say we Californians do the same thing and we will have Arnie as our "Presinator"!

What concerns me further,

What concerns me further, despite the fact that I'm not surprised, is that gun stores are indeed having a hard time keeping the ammo on the shelves. What, is everybody suddenly taking up hunting this spring? Whatever the case, the issue for me is that the kind of people who'll run out and buy bullets because Rush Limbaugh is cranking the air raid siren are also the kind of people who really don't think to hard about what a bullet does when it slams into a body. My agoraphobia worsens...

proof of the dumbing down of

proof of the dumbing down of america where belief trumps facts.

This can be succinctly

This can be succinctly pointed down to a comment Bobby Jindal made the other week. He said that our big failed government got in the way during Hurricane Katrina. It did? It seems to me what happened is that a Hurricane rolled in, and our limited government that had been downsized wasn't prepared to deal with it, so people were forced to fend for themselves and many lost everything. Sort of like the current economy and state of our country. Conservatism has prevailed for so long (even gone along with by the Democrats for the most part), that the reality is that there is almost no government intervention in our lives if you think about it. What really happens is what government intervention there is, operates to set-up the tax code and financial system to benefit large corporations and the super wealthy who are connected to the politicians. Limbaugh, Coulter etc. may have some people fooled, but more and more of us have woken up and realized that their brand of conservatism is based on a lie. What's amazing about this, is that what they espouse is nothing like what Barry Goldwater advocated when he proclaimed his conservatism back in the 1960s, or even Reagan's "government is the problem", because they've gone beyond that to where they think government shouldn't exist, except to benefit the wealthy/connected.

Regarding the increased sale

Regarding the increased sale of guns and ammo ...the fringe truly believes the Obama administration will take away their guns and their ammo. Really. I was at a conference of industry leaders - heads of companies - and a couple of the leaders from Texas were saying how they were stocking up on guns, etc. as they just knew they weren't going to be allowed to do it soon. Where have all the Americans gone? I thought there were some Republicans who were patriots and 'real' American? Body snatchers at work?

I think we should be very

I think we should be very attentive to what else is happening (not seeming to happen) while the nation's attention is drawn to what SEEMS TO BE a "bunch of nuts" arguing with each other. Things are seldom what they seem to be.

I'm just not seeing it.

I'm just not seeing it. I've read, several times now, of the Republican meltdown. And as much as I'd devote a holiday to its truth were it to happen, inviting people over to wear costumes of their favorite republican with mustache drawn on for fun, I don't see it happening. Rupublicans, in true form, are banding together to stonewall legislation, no matter what it is, and to attack Obama at every turn. This kind of solidarity will eventually pay off. And then they'll roll out the ol' "I told you so." No, until Republicans are the distant names of people we invoke to scare our children into behaving, I won't believe that their demise is anywhere near at hand.

If hypocrisy is truly the

If hypocrisy is truly the purest form of evil, then no person on the planet exemplifies this more than Rush Limbaugh. The man is a drug addict, but I suppose it's ok because his drugs came from big pharma and I guess that's a way to support capitalism. Oh, and did I mention that the man who loves his right wing "family values" has been divorced three times? Maybe he just can't get enough family. It absolutely kills me that these extreme right wingers can blame Obama for the current state of affairs. I am absolutely terrified that the voice of reason can be outshined by these nuts (Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, et al) simply because they are louder. The myths that they have been able to spread among those less educated americans or simply those in denial are incredible to say the least. Like the myth of the "liberal" media, last time I checked News Corp and their subsidiary Fox News wasn't very liberal and CNBC is almost as bad. If you don't believe me look into Jim "booya" Cramer's past and his short selling cronies. If the right is so anti-elitist then why are they only interested in making the rich even richer? The sad reality is that most of the people can be fooled most of the time. There are many on the right that call Obama's policies radical but: "What is right will always be called radical by those with a stake in the things that are wrong" -Charles McGovern

Why do repugs hate America?

Why do repugs hate America? What I don't understand is why, when republicans make these kinds of threats, no one is ever arrested. Just a few years ago people were arrested for idle comments overheard at a library. A woman was questioned by the FBI for a poster she had hanging in her own home. I'd like to see the people who support this treason held for "questioning" every time they try to get on an airplane. I think from now on, wearing a "cowboy" hat in an airport should guarantee you'll be pulled aside and strip-searched, at the very least. These people HATE America but LOVE Abu Graib. Let's see how well they like living there, PERMANENTLY. I don't want to just sit back and do nothing with all of these potential terrorists living among us.

Gun sales- increased because

Gun sales- increased because the gun nuts fear increased gun control? Or because they are planning to use those guns? And if so, who will they be using them on? You and me, my friends. You and me. If we let them.

Arrest and prosecute them

Arrest and prosecute them for threatening the president, sedition and treason. Get them off the radio. Prosecute Republicriminals under the RICO Act.

Know Chuck Norris, worked

Know Chuck Norris, worked with Chuck Norris. He's not a bright man.

"Invasion USA" was a

"Invasion USA" was a horrible Chuck Norris movie but I think Chuck, Hannity and Beck are all living it now. The problem is, everything that is underway is "change" that was voted in democratically, peacefully and lawfully. So Hannity and pals just sound like sore losers that are in the minority and don't know what to do about it.

They are like nails on a

They are like nails on a chalk board. Remember the idiot kid who thought he was so bright to do this everyday in elementary school.

Scratch a conservative and

Scratch a conservative and you will find an authoritarian underneath. There is a very interesting book by Bob Altemeyer. He did some research on the need of some people for authority figures. His research resulted in his writing "The Authoritarians". It is quite as interesting and as chilling as the research done years ago where people would subject a person to electric shocks even to the point of giving heart failure if they were ordered to obey the researcher and continue the torture. The books gives one a little insight into how many of these right-wingers think. David

Maybe we could right the

Maybe we could right the historic wrong of how Texas was so cruelly taken from Mexico by giving it back. Texas, the state that gave us, not just one, but two incredibly incompetent presidents (LBJ and W) who helped the U.S. to lose two, and possibly three, major wars (Viet Nam, Iraq, and maybe Afghanistan). Let's just hope Mexico will take Texas back. The only condition is that they have to take W, too.

I for one am just thrilled.

I for one am just thrilled. Most of the gun nuts I know are more likely to fight *against* the armed rebellion (not, with the government, mind you, but certainly against these nincompoops). But the best part is, we don't even have to do anything. Just sit, watch, and be entertained. And it just keeps going and going - when are they going to realize they're destroying their own party?

Don't jump the gun! It's

Don't jump the gun! It's just your xenophobia, relax, stop working yourself up into a frenzy. The reason the sale of guns and ammo increased is because people are afraid some idiots are going to pass some ignorant laws which will increase the value of those commodities. They are speculating. They figure to make some money. Or they want to get one while they can. You are misinformed if you think a M-15 type rifle is not used for hunting and shooting matches, and like most guns will set in a hiding place and seldom used. You don't need to be afraid of this nor afraid of those "Hicks". You are no smarter than they arethey are no threat to you. There are peop

Great article and scary too.

Great article and scary too. I knew that Chuck Norris was a terrible actor, I just didn't know he was such a traitor and so very stupid. We do need to pay attention to what these people are saying and doing. I also hope the Secret Service pays really, really good attention to them. I didn't know that I could dislike Republicans even more than I did say for the last 8 years, but I do.

The GOP - poor sports,

The GOP - poor sports, crybabies and whiners when they lose... despots and bullies when they win (which is usually by cheating)

Seems Norris got hit a few

Seems Norris got hit a few too many times on the head. Though I suspect he was dealt a lousy hand to start with. Not his fault, really. And that's my point: it's nobodies' fault, and cannot be made sense of easily. Just as with unruly children, those more responsible must act decisively and assertively, with no pussyfooting. Do you love America? Then give to it as you would your child. Do you criticize your children publicly for mischief? Do you treat your children as though they are idiots? Try reimagining Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Chuck Norris, etc, as children who never grew up, emotionally at least. Were they to actually grow emotionally, they would change their tune to something more pragmatic. Just as parents do. Interesting that Limbaugh, and Coulter, have never had children of their own, that have been made public. (And that begs the question of WHY is it Coulter feels so confident speaking about children? She is a sham.) It is also important to recognize that no one has the answer.

It started like this in my ex country. It was first dictator who indebted us to build a huge army, then the biggest republic Serbia started complaining about being mistreated by other Republics, then they turned army against rest of the country which then killed and wounded 10% of population, and expelled 20%. And now there are 7 much poorer new countries where one was before .... Be careful!!!!

Dear ryziosphere, Where was

Dear ryziosphere, Where was this kind of sentiment when the nuts we're not supposed to be afraid of were in the White House and the rest of us were being treated like criminals by our own country for disagreeing with them? Fear breeds fear. I, for one, am not man enough to just keep taking it on the chin and asking for another one. I don't see the fake Christians turning the other cheek either. Everytime someone argues that being ready for a fight loses elections, just remember who controlled congress from 1994 to 2006 and the White House from 2000 to 2008. It was a good ride for them, completely brought on by mobilizing their base. How did they lose congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008? By our side finally mobilizing our base. In 2000 Tom DeLay handed out a pamphlet to all Republicans in congress entitled, "The Art of Political War". It states that, "Politics is war conducted by other means. In political warfare you do not fight just to prevail in an argument, but to destroy the enemy's fighting ability. ... In political wars, the aggressor usually prevails." It also says that, "Politics is a war of position. In war there are two sides: friends and enemies. Your task is to define yourself as the friend of as large a constituency as possible compatible with your principles, while defining your opponent as the enemy whenever you can. The act of defining combatants is analogous to the military concept of choosing the terrain of battle. Choose the terrain that makes the fight as easy for you as possible." These people mean business folks. When we start to finally undo all of the damage these sociopaths did to our country over the past 15+ years I'll stop "worrying". Until then, let's give them something to worry about.

Reason is the first victim

Reason is the first victim of jealousy. The power Obama has instilled in him by the electorate is freaking all conservatives/corporatists out. They thought they had locks on control and said little about privacy when it was taken from them by Bush. Now they want a civil war to secede from reality and foment a riot and conspiracy just for ratings and raw power?

If Jabba the Rush's

If Jabba the Rush's listeners are as physically fit as he is, we have nothing to worry about. We'll hear them struggling to get off their La-Z-Boys in plenty of time to alert the authorities.

...tent cities, tent cities

...tent cities, tent cities full of hungry people...hungry people with guns, lots of hungry people with lots of guns. Too many big-fat, over paid-n-fed (not starving, not needing to feed children Ann!), loud, stupid, paranoid right-wing-whacko bloviators with too many microphones and too much air time...way'da'go Dubuyah: your legacy. Your daddy stole a gold mine from us when he left office...you were allowed to "pull-the-pin" and walk away with your empty head held high...what a mess. Enjoy Paraguay idiot-boy, hope you choke on a cassava root. POST SCRIPT- in my moments of greatest despair (when, to cheer myself, I'm imagining Limpball smothering Ch. Norris with his carbuncle) I often day dream about a world in which Gore didn't fold or at least in which Kerry didn't fold, or at the very least in which Pelosi didn't fold...but in all 3 versions the ending is always the same (like in the movie version "Idiocracy" :-) The neo-cons always mutate into green eyed drooling beasts and start eating eachother. It's just the inevitable fate of people with so much fear and loathing in their missing souls...problem is they'll eat us too. That kind of hate is indiscriminate. What a mess. it's gonna get real ugly...

Now is the time for all good

Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of our country and unfold and hold up that grand old heart of the Union, the Constition and Bill of Rights. The Republicans spent the last eight years trying to tear it to shreds, which if they had succeeded, they would now be going to prison for some of the stupid things they are saying or suggesting. We are blessed with now having a president for all the people who speaks with clearness and intelligence, whereas the last 8 years have been a swamp of stupidity and incoherence whenever George W.Bush opened his mouth. We are in serious times, and now is the time for constructive criticism and intelligent alternatives to any disagreement. What we do not need is repulsive and dangerous entertainment in the form of Coulter and Limbaugh.

I have only read the first 7

I have only read the first 7 or so comments, so I do not have a good handle on the response. I have what might be a very naive question--forgive me, if you will. I am a 50-something professional w/a BA and MS in communication, and have spent most of my career as a business/tech communicator. At any rate, the question: Is this really happening? I scanned the Chuck Norris article. Is this not treason, or sedition? Even though I am not sure I quite agree with the Sedition Act, still...I do believe it is very possible that the past administration might have violated its duty to the Constitution--we should have an investigation and criminal prosecution, if necessary, no matter WHOM we target. But again...are these people REALLY saying these things? Is this considered entertainment, or are they intent on being taken seriously? I've never owned a gun and generally renounce violence of any sort. But I might need to change my mind. These folks do not appear to be kidding. Or, are they? Really. We need to know. If they are not serious, fine--they are just following the very low and ugly offensive tracks of their media icons. If they are serious, they must be dealt with seriously. Being at heart cowards, it will come as a shock to them. The dislike conservatives apparently have for our Constitution, and for the basic historic (and stunningly new) idea that we are all created equal with basic rights, is not new. Just read about The Business Plot of the 1930's, where a few business people planned to overthrow FDR--they tried to recruit a general--because they thought his policies were dangerous. It was investigated by Congress and found to be a very tiny and isolated threat. Yet, the sentiment was there. Are these conservatives that stupid to go in this direction? Right now, I will take it as low and offensive entertainment, equitable to Andrew Dice Clay in his heyday, or Howard Stern, Goldstein of Screw Magazine infamy. Is this the correct response?

Every one please pop some

Every one please pop some popcorn, take your seats, and enjoy the show. The implosion of the GOP is the best entertainment in town.
