A census worker in Kentucky was found hanged to death with the word "Fed" scrawled on his body, according to unnamed law enforcement officials cited by The Associated Press. Bill Sparkman, age 51, was a part-time census worker and occasional teacher. His body was found September 12 hanged from a tree in a remote section of the Daniel Boone National Forest, located in a rural portion of southeast Kentucky. His truck was parked nearby, and his computer was found inside.

Authorities have been tight-lipped on the details surrounding Sparkman's death, refusing to state whether his death was murder or a suicide, and offered no details on the instrument used to scrawl "Fed" on his chest. Officials at the Census Bureau's Charlotte, North Carolina, office were informed the death was "an apparent homicide," but the investigation is ongoing.

The FBI has been called in to assist Kentucky state police with the case. "Our job is to determine if there was foul play involved," said FBI spokesman David Beyer, "and that's part of the investigation - and if there was foul play involved, whether that is related to his employment as a census worker."

Mr. Sparkman had worked on and off for the Census Bureau since 2003, doing door-to-door interviews in the five counties surrounding the area where his body was found. The Census Bureau has suspended their door-to-door operations until the investigation is concluded. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our co-worker," said Commerce Secretary Gary Locke in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with William Sparkman's son, other family and friends." The Commerce Department oversees the US Census Bureau.

This is only the beginning,

This is only the beginning, I'm afraid. I blame Rush Limblaugh, Glenn Buck, Fox News and the rest of the conservative media, and the Republican party for this. This is exactly the type of thing they have been promoting and rooting for ever since Obama was elected.

Evil is as Evil does, It is

Evil is as Evil does, It is my sincerest hope that who ever perpetrated that crime suffer the same consequences. It is an annoying thought, That I do not care to endorse but I can not shed either. A thought that makes me wonder who has the most to gain from this and who has the most to lose. A gainer could be a beleaguered organization that desperately needs a diversion and sympathy - an organization that is funded by money coercively taken from tax payers - or a movement that is already getting unjustly smeared, a movement that does not endorse oppression by individuals or government, they stand to lose the most by such a heinous act. Regardless of the final out come this is one of many sad situations where there are real victims.

Hysteria's first casualty.

Hysteria's first casualty. A census-taker is a poor substitute for Obama, but the crazies will take whatever they can get, and whatever they can get away with as a victory for their cause, however they define it. This murder must be solved and the solution publicized as quickly as possible or the hysterics will have their first heroes.

Sad and scary. They should

Sad and scary. They should likely have better security procedures in place to protect census workers. For example, there could be phone-in contact before each interview contact commences and after it ends? Or work with partners?

We need to remember that in

We need to remember that in many parts of America, there are still people who haven't grasped the notion of civilization yet. There's no doubt "foul play" was involved here...this poor census worker must have got too close to either (A) an illegal distillery, (B) a meth lab, (C) a sex-slave facility, or (D) a child-porn distributor. This is right out of "Deliverance"....but that was supposed to be in Georgia. Oh well....

This is clearly a terrorism

This is clearly a terrorism case, so why no media coverage. They've devoted hours to an Arab-American who rented a car to buy lots of beauty supplies, saying he may be building a bomb.

What I want to know is why,

What I want to know is why, if the body was found on September 12th, no story appeared in the media for well over a week. Who is responsible for keeping the death of a census worker under wraps - and why?

'the death was "an apparent

'the death was "an apparent homicide," ' nah, you think?

it seems that years ago

it seems that years ago politics in the past were not as bad as today. Now today you have political tribalism from both sides of the aisle. In fact I place the blame on ALL media of any political strip. I am getting sick and tired of the diatribe being thrown out of the window from both sides. Media, government, political parties, think tanks, ALL have contributed to the degeneration of what use to be 'America'. I don't care for labels since I care only for the word 'American'. It is a good thing that I am an independent libertarian with no political party and I should stay that way. Just seeing these typed statements from people that blame " its all republican's fault we need to have a ONE party system that dominates all" or " its all of the democrats fault we need to destroy the socialist democrats are doing!!" Don't you people even see the headlights coming toward us? If this country continues to be embroiled in political tribalism I will take my own American citizenship and burn it. Besides all I wanted was peace and quiet and own a small plot of land without any disturbance....forget about everything I have been educated since preschool and just simply buy and own my plot of land..... You people disgust me.....

maybe if these people hate

maybe if these people hate the government so much, we should conduct an experiment: Stop all social security and medicare payments...in all red states!

Exhibit A) Michelle Bachman

Exhibit A) Michelle Bachman goes on Glen Beck's freak show and asserts that Obama will use census information to identify "conservatives" for detainment in Beck's imaginary concentration camps. Exhibit B) The body of census worker Bill Sparkman is found hanged to death with the word FED scrawled on his chest. Michelle Bachman should be immediately impeached from the House of Representatives and arrested for sedition.

Tight-lipped indeed. Like

Tight-lipped indeed. Like others, why are we just hearing about this now over a week later? This is a lynching. Tacitly condoned for decades, shouldn't the media be screaming about this? Where are the right-to-lifers? Didn't this man have a right to life in their eyes? Where are the folks who claim this is a Christian nation? Jesus calls us to love one another above all.

This scary situation is not

This scary situation is not new. In 1980, I supervised the Census in a Texas County. We have a large rural population and we did have people who were rude, and even pulled guns out and threatened the "enumerators," those who actually conduct the census. Although it is not new, the situation is getting worse. Leaders of both parties and 24-hour "news" television, talk radio and blogs need to tone down the hateful rhetoric. We are creating, all of us, a climate of rage in which unbalanced people act out of fear. Each of us adds to it when we blame others. When we buy products that support television shows that ignore rational dialog and "balance" news by putting "commentators" "news analysts" from both sides on to give their opinions about something. Radio and blogs pick that up. It makes every issue a we-they contest, a serious game of winners and losers rather than a discussion by people who have information not opinions. We are frozen in this game and cannot, even when all our interests balance on the solution, behave rationally. Census workers are mostly retired people and teachers, people who have lost their jobs, students, part time workers, mothers with young children. Every 10 years they are called to work temporarily to conduct a study required by the United States Constitution. Whatever use political and governmental agencies make of their information, that is all they are doing: Collecting information required by the Constitution.

I spent 32 years in

I spent 32 years in government service, including three years in the military in the south- south Alabama, South Viet Nam, and south Georgia. (Viet Nam was the most friendly) The anger toward government I found was consistent and always from "right -wingers", even during REAGAN YEARS! That Beck, Limbaugh and the others foment this to a further degree of hatred today is clear. There is a mental incapacity in this nation among those who oppose "big government" until they realize THEY are the beneficiary- which they invariably deny.

First question that occurs

First question that occurs to me is why was Bill Sparkman doing anything door to door related to the census? The census is performed every 10 years. This isn't that year yet. Secondly, having been a census enumerator myself I can tell you, it is a delicate negotiation with people's right to privacy. I got cussed out going to million-dollar homes. I had attorney's wives threaten me with lawsuits. Many people are aware that the only legitimate information a census enumerator can ask for is the number of people at the residence. The problem is, Washington wants more information. I've heard frustrated census workers speak among themselves threatening to have recusant residents arrested when they do not have the authority to do so. The tension of the situation gets worse with every increased demand for information.

Taxes are not taken through

Taxes are not taken through coercion - people are free to live elsewhere, and not be burdened with the tax system of this nation or any given local municipality. And the Census Bureau is not evil. If you blame the victim through subtle means, you are still blaming the victim.

To the above post maybe we

To the above post maybe we should stop social security and medicare payments to ALL states not just red states and end the program itself or until ALL states can have a common ground with each other... this is what political tribalism is all about: loyalty to one party and being blind about it. To continue this ingrain hatred from these posts I do not see how can America even survive this onslaught. Eventually everyone will become tired of this lunacy from both political isles and will demand the rise of third parties as moderators and brokers for some neutral type of progress.... Forget the word democracy or even a republic until our hotheadedness can get a sense of what is being "American" is all about. Until then I do NOT hope that America can pull this out of this quagmire.....

Skanner Constant makes a

Skanner Constant makes a very good point. I live here in Kentucky and feel obligated to comment. I don't care much for t.v. so I cant really say if it has been reported in local news although it would be a shock if it hasn't, because after all "if it bleeds it leads" in a profit-motivated and thus sensational news media. Regardless, I have not, nor have any of my friends who do own t.v.s heard of this crime and I find that very disturbing. What I do find uplifting is the lack of commentator stereotyping about southern states (except of course for 18:55 "captain pneumo" ) b/c i hope we can all agree that kind of language gets us no where. I would also like to note that despite the Glen Beck/Bill o' Reilly, and Fox crowd which IS disproportionately southern, there is still a very strong progressive sentiment here in Ky, only....well...when it comes down to it, we're mostly poor so the media and powers that be don't care to report our feelings. (unless they're birthers!) "Terrorism" has no religion. Terrorism is simply a function of fear- an irrational, reactionary and ultimately self destructive byproduct of people whose environments (there is NO human nature mind you, only human behavior) have led them to the conclusion that they should be fearful of what they do not understand, instead of of curious and investigative. Whoever did this fears what they do not understand, or more importantly, don't care to understand, and worse, believe violence helps anything. I wouldn't be surprised if this murderer goes to church on sundays. As Ghandi said, "I love your Christ, I just don't like your Christians.... they are so unlike your Christ!"

I think "dtroutma" hit the

I think "dtroutma" hit the nail on the head. If we just didn't have our 1st Amendment protected right of free speech we wouldn't be having this problem. Did I get that right, folks? Ban all conservative talk radio so that census enumerators can go door to door safely? I want to know if you honestly think that would help. In fact, that is the mentality which is making it increasingly dangerous out there. The Declaration does not read: ". . . consensus of the governed," but rather, ". . . consent of the governed." There is an increasing America out there that is not consenting. Instead of being sensitive to their concerns, you seem to imagine simply removing their voice. When I'm out there taking the census I can be anything called for from democrat to repub to independent of any flavor. Whatever facilitates making the respondent comfortable and getting my job done. Problem is, census takers are considered the lowest form of government employee; mostly temporary and no benefits (ahem). It's going to be a real pity if more enumerators begin getting the short straw simply because there is not adequate training for them. You cannot go out there with an adversarial attitude. The American public will eat you up and spit you out. It's like any other sales job. You have to know your market. So, possibly I'm the only commenter who is not lamenting the fate of poor Bill Sparkman. The reason is that I could have ended up just like him if I'd said and done the wrong things. Does anyone get the point?

It's time to start

It's time to start demonizing the right as crazies. Call MoveOn and Organize For America and lets manufacture some phony partisan hysteria and outrage. Maybe this time MediaMatters will be totally successful in scaring off all of the advertisers for Glenn Beck.

I believe that it is time

I believe that it is time for our elected representatives of both parties to specifically reject any violence toward census workers. It is time for the wiser heads to speak out against it in no uncertain terms. specifically Republican leaders should make a clear distinction between legitimate concerns about big government, and violent and murderous behavior. They should encourage the talking heads to tone down the rhetoric. I agree that Congresswoman Michelle Bachman's words should be chosen with care to make it clear that she does not encourage or condone violence against census workers. I worked in the 2000 census with the long forms asking a lot of questions. The form for this census has been greatly shortened and simplified, in response to complaints about the last form being intrusive. This is a very sad day in America.

i'm as conspiratorial and

i'm as conspiratorial and liberal as anyone else, but i think a lot of people are jumping to conclusions here. i know i'll someone's going to get hysterical on me for questioning, but unless there is more info to indicate that this is the work of a right-winger(s) with a deadly agenda, it's hard for me to automatically assume so.

President O is driving a

President O is driving a spike in our country - absolutely following a playbook of creating social tension and uncertainty. If he would act like a president and not like a dictator, he might lead us somewhere instead of straight into chaos. You keep following the light, you'll be clutching your steak knives, hiding in your basements wondering why our beautiful country is in shambles. He is worse than you expected - face it. He has no concern for you or me: red, blue, white, gay, straight, parent, child... its about CHANGE!?

Anon 9:24. The folks like

Anon 9:24. The folks like Rush Limbaugh & Glen(n?) Beck are not authentic conservatives in the least as they are just PAID SHOWMEN & ACTORS whose main purpose is to vilify authentic conservatism by making it look ridiculous [ they are warmongers who ridicule true conservative values as they do with Ron Paul whom they vilified WORSE than Obama! ] because violence only benefits the STATE & not the actual folks who are languishing under the State. I bet you anything that whoever killed this census worker was part of the State himself as per the usual agent provocateur type operation. Do not let yourself be fooled by false flag operations a la Operation Gladio [ European governments engaging in terrorism setting of bombs & blaming it on the "left". ] / The Boeremag [ a media coined term for a violent South African state directed plot aimed at implicating a non existent Boer freedom group in order to demonize Boer Republicans. ] / Algerian Muslim Bombings [ whose government bombed places as "Muslim Extremists" in order to demonize extremist Muslim opposition. ] / Operation Northwoods [ a USA government document which aimed at blowing up American planes & blaming it on Cuba. ] / German Reichstag fire [ wherein the Nazis burned down the Reichstag & blamed it on their political opponents. ] This latest event has all the hallmarks of ANOTHER infamous false flag operation because only the State & its rulers ever benefit from anti-state violence as the examples above [ & others ] have demonstrated in the past.

There are probably many more

There are probably many more cases that have not yet (or ever) been reported to the public. It is my guess that this one was chosen for first "public disclosure" because he was a census worker and thus the government could use the case to win support from the people. Here we have a "part time" worker that they can play on to win public support. If these words would have been scrawled on the body of a bank executive ("Fed"), an FBI agent or some other agency officer, it would very likely incite additional violence. And thus my hypothesis that more of these types of crimes against government workers are out there unreported.

Don. Glen Beck did an entire

Don. Glen Beck did an entire program "debunking" the concentration camps. This is the whole point of that slick scumbag Glen Beck. To marginalize legitimate issues of concern. Because as you will recall the concentration camps were exposed with Rex-84 & have been admitted to in the past.

This unfortunate death to

This unfortunate death to the census worker does NOT make questioning and or holding the federal government any less accountable for so many the troubles they are bring upon the people of this nation. This idea of accountability knows neither side of the political spectrum.

The problem isn't news

The problem isn't news casts, it's the "GOOBERMENT". The Constitution allows for the collection of the number of people in a household ONCE ever TEN Years. The problem is the snooping of government and asking - no DEMANDING answers to questions they have no right to know! Most people do know this and resent the violation of their privacy. Now, I don't condone these actions, but if the government doesn't get out of the private rights and affairs of the PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, more of the same will happen. We have entered an era of Totalitarianism, and We the People are not taking delivery!!! Again, the actions of whomever killed this man are criminal - but the actions of our "GOOBERMENT" in the last nine years are worse yet! Past and present administrations included. Throw out every elected politician in the next election and vote for a trusted neighbor who thinks like you! Whooo Hoo-It's time to take back our Republic and Constitution!!

Dtroutma. Do not forget that

Dtroutma. Do not forget that people who are opposed to government tyranny or oppression are often labeled "Right Wingers" because this label acts as a Scarlet Letter to demonize & marginalize those who take their inherent rights seriously thus act as an obstacle to government agendas. One must recognize that "anger" at government does not exist in a vacuum as it is the result of constant government usurpation of Constitutional / natural & individual rights.

The census bureau is using

The census bureau is using GPS tracking to pinpoint where we live from outer space...why would they need to find my house from outer space? Kinda creepy! Reading the posts here only reaffirms my belief that Civil War 2.0 is coming to America in the very near future...it's impossible to avoid it at this point, I think. Heck, it seems like the current social climate was tailor-made for Civil strife! Who would want to pit us against each other? Who would benefit from such a thing? What group would have the power to do that? On February 17, 1950, one James P Warburg (a Jewish banker) stood before the Senate and confidently proclaimed..."We shall have World Government, whether or not we like it. The only question is whether World Government will be achieved by conquest or consent.". The Illuminati would definitely have the wherewithal to instigate a Civil War in the US...and it would serve their goals for world domination quite nicely!

very sad to see this

very sad to see this happening in america my heart goes out to the family.

I wish you people would get

I wish you people would get off your high horse. People on the left have perpetrated violence countless times against their opponents. No one called for liberal commentators to be shut down as a result. So if someone takes a shot at Bush or any of his compadres, can we blame the eight years of hate directed at him for that? Anthony V

I agree with "it seems that

I agree with "it seems that years ago". Left and right wingers are both nuts. Calm down or I'm leaving.

Again this mindless drivel

Again this mindless drivel of posts continuous support my theory that we are indeed a nation that loves to categorize each other to the point that the word "American" is essentially gone. Gone are the days were respect and courtesy has been replaced with tribalism and paranoia. This has got to stop. Take a clear example from the few posts above me: from 1:40's post: dictator, red, blue, white gay, and straight. from post 1:21 : liberal, right-winger, conspiratorial, from post 1:12 : Republican and big government from post 00:59 : demonizing, right, crazies, partisan, and more from other posts as well. I am sick and tired of this kind of type of enablers of violence.

Since the "Fed" is actually

Since the "Fed" is actually a bunch of private banks, how can this be terrorism against the government, if this was in fact done to show disdain for that organization. This actually has the earmark of a false flag event since it is well known by people who are against the Fed that the Fed has nothing to do with the US government itself!! It has been reported that the Fed has more power than the Congress. Jumping to the conclusion that this was done by the right wing against the left may play into the hand of the people behind this. Remember the tactic of "divide and conquor". It is used by Generals as well as an effective tool in power struggles!

Nobody has mentioned how the

Nobody has mentioned how the census takers are recording the GPS coordinates of peoples front doors. This unmentioned fact is a huge contributor to the concern and agitation that has developed among some folks with regard to the census takers this year. When the purpose of the census is to identify numbers of occupants in a residence and demographic trends, what non nefarious or obtrusive reason is there for recording GPS coordinates for someone's front door? Also why not alert the public before hand to the new practice with the explanation? Sure would alleviate any concerns. I think it's safe to say that either someone is totally inept at the census or they knew full well there would be an outcry against it. Obviously killing a census taker who is doing his job is a tragedy and clearly not the answer. However, it is interesting how late this was reported and we should be asking to who's benefit?

The left has always wanted

The left has always wanted to shut down the free speech of its detractors, and any excuse will do. Recently, a pro-life demonstrator was murdered. Does that mean we should muzzle the speech of pro-choice people?

Blindedby.... So please

Blindedby.... So please educate us all on just how Obama is acting like a dictator? Have you ever lived under a dictator? Or do you just watch Fox news and repeat what you've heard? The last president said that "the constitution is just a god dammed piece of paper", and then went out and tried to eliminate whole sections of it. The last vice president ran secret, illegal military operations, held secret, illegal white house meetings and tortured people to death. That seems a little more dictatorial to me. And I suppose that trying to get affordable health care for the entire country and lower taxes for the middle class is what you call "no concern for you or me". I'd rather have a president who cares more about the well being of the citizens than the well being of corporations and military industrial complex. Blindedby... we are all waiting for your expertise on dictators and their behavior.

This was probably waving the

This was probably waving the bloody shirt on a small scale..I couldn't help notice the date 9/12/09 and i thought of the 9/12 movement..Not saying it was one of them, but maybe the Feds themselves to make the tea party people look like terrorists...This will set more precedence and i'm sure ensure that more civil liberties are nullified..Everyone with a certain political leaning will be suspect and they will have bigger false flags and put us at a state of emergency or something crazy..People it's the left-right illusion..Neither side will lead to true liberty..Only breaking that paradigm will help us to vote out the criminals. But i suspect people will continue sleeping.

Capt. Neumo is correct

Capt. Neumo is correct below. Read it and weap.

There is a question

There is a question concerning this " hanged with fed across his chest". Are you sure Al Queda did not do it, they do everything else?

The Fed? Written on a chest

The Fed? Written on a chest of a dead person? Who would wish to "stage" such a contrivance to further impair the credibility of those who wish to "end the fed". Why, probably the same people who "ginned up" and "staged the 90 year KKK stooge who found himself with a rifle at the holocaust museum taking shots at toy cops. MKULTRA? With all that we know about domestic "false flags" and the history of the fed (all conspiracy theories, you know), who would be so naive as to be distracted by something so contrived. If the poor worker killed himself our emotions are heartfelt- if he was murdered this is a horrific crime and those responsible need be brought to justice. But just think about it- who would be so intelligent as to understand the workings of the fed and understand its vile pursuits and be so stupid as to kill a seemingly innocent and irrelevant census worker- and put an oblique message on the fellow's body in order to "send a message". Unfortunately it is likely not the people you think did it- but rather those whose message was presented to distract.

sounds like the hysteria is

sounds like the hysteria is from the readers jumping to conclusions again...

Honestly, have you, the

Honestly, have you, the posters read all these comments? Conspiracies, the Feds, the Loonies. ....Omigod....THE CENSUS. " Gooberment" intrusion. Have any of you had any education? Didn't you study Western Civ. in school? Census taking is as old as the Pharoahs. What would you geneologists do without the census data? For the Cliff Notes version might I suggest a quick tour through http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Census ? The Census isn't some US gov't. conspiracy to find out what size panties your Aunt Thelma wears. This gov't. conspiracy stuff is getting out of hand. You've all lost your collective minds. A big dose of American History 101-102 might help with a side shot of World History. Take a deep breath and relax. Then tell a good friend a juicy secret and see if they can keep it secret for a week. Now try to keep the deliberate killing of a few thousand New Yorkers or the folks in Pearl Harbor quite for more than a few months. Good luck with that one. I jokingly told the local census guy to take care of himself when he went back on the mountain to query the neighbors. Now I'm not so sure I shouldn't have offered to go along as backup.

GPS coordinates could very

GPS coordinates could very well bring a hellfire missile to your front door. It could also be used for surveillance purposes. Google earth satellite can get really fine detail of the comings and goings at your residence. Either this guy stumbled on a drug enterprise, or he was killed by someone who didn't want a GPS tag on his property.

The 2008 missing persons

The 2008 missing persons statistics showed over 800,000 people reported missing . Over 100,000 have not been found. nearly 2000 of them were recovered deceased. During WWII in Germany a few million went missing never to return, and those who survived and found out about the horror of the concentration camps at the end of the war claimed they did not know where all those people went. It would be quite easy for census workers to disappear relatively unnoticed. Especially some of the homeless recruits that Acorn might send out to knock on doors. It is not so far fetched that this could be the tip of an iceberg. Time will tell.

If you think census workers

If you think census workers could go missing and no one notice, that's a lack of confidence in our government, I'd say. If they can't keep track of how many census workers disappear, then I don't want them in charge of my health care.

Seriously people, and I

Seriously people, and I thought I was a fan of the x-files when I was in 6th grade.... Now, im not saying I couldn't see a gobment interest in documenting our front doors' g.p.s. coordinates in this era of wire tapping and lack of habeas corpus and extraordinary rendition, but where on earth are people getting some of this stuff??? What happened to public discourse being based upon observable and peer-reviewed evidence? This isn't even far leftist or rightist stuff, just pure sensationalism. Take a deep breath chicken little, the sky isn't falling just yet

This murder is something

This murder is something that really demands media attention, but it is being kept as quiet as possible. Global warming should also be getting more media attention. Instead, we hear about Fake flu scares and Fake peroxide-bomb terrorist scares and Fake Iran nuclear weapons ambition scares and Fake Afghan-Pakistan Taliban terrorists.

Life insurance won't pay out

Life insurance won't pay out for suicides. This is a single father who may have killed himself but tried to leave insurance for his kids. This whole scenario smells. No one kills a census worker and puts 'fed' on his chest. There just isn't that kind of fury out there toward some guy with glasses just doing his job. Especially not in a poverty stricken area where 70% of the people are on the dole.

What's most interesting is

What's most interesting is that this is not a census year.

Mysterioso is right in his

Mysterioso is right in his or her partisan way. Bush-Cheney destroyed this country during their reign. Some Republicans are in denial. Others are smarting from the blast burn of what they realize went wrong. Problem is, the pendulum swing didn't help. We still have renditions. Even more troops are going to Afghanistan. Denial of healthcare/Kill Granny Bill is not "providing" for everyone, unless you consider euthanasia "compassionate." The American people are getting it stuck to them by both parties. The reason I spoke up was because of the pinhead labeling of "right-wingers" when the problem of anger at expansive government is so much deeper and broader than most imagine. Totalitarian? Obama just presided as the Chairman of the United Nations Security Council. Articles in media across the country are proclaiming him "president of the world!" when they should be proclaiming his act of treason against his oath of office as our president. On the Left are voices proclaiming again the advent of a New World Order, . . . the very self-same that the Left has accused the Right of tinfoil wingnut conspiracy theorism. There may not be anything inherently malefic about global governance, but I would ask all of whatever political persuasion to consider how this is being forced upon us. As far as the label of "conspiracy theory," if you investigate most of it is actually fact. I heard report of the internment camps from a black helicopter pilot I interviewed (160th Aviation) back in 1997. He was also an assassin for the gov't in 1992 and had faced a charge of treason for refusing a direct order from the then sitting president, GHW Bush to neutralize a presidential candidate, Ross Perot. Quite a story! And you can see it on YouTube or Google video by just googling "Gene Tatum." You might even hear my voice asking questions in the background. Before you affix me with a label, just consider that I was sent on the interview by a former head (SAIC) of the Los Angeles FBI. If you watch the videos on Tatum maybe you will consider setting aside partisan politics long enough to cognize that the cratering of America, debauching of the dollar, onset of global governance, has all been planned decades ago. Maybe we could have stopped it if y'all had been paying attention rather than labeling "conspiracy theorists."

I am surprised everyone is

I am surprised everyone is blaming everyone and no one even knows what happened. In the end the fault lies with the person who murdered this person and no one else. No one can make you go and murder anyone. No, everyone needs to take responsibility for their own actions for a change and quit blaming someone else. The fault lies with the murderer and no one else.

its interesting all the

its interesting all the different cans of worms an article on a slain man with fed scrawled across his chest can open. to me it speaks to the precarious house of cards we've built here in this country through the ridiculous corroding of education and communication, which allows the most atrocious things to be gotten away with while everyone snores and talks in there sleep. i just don't get this 'expansive government' focus...from what i see its expansive private corporate i.e. banking, energy, military-industrial $ minded to- big-to-fail stuff. yes the government is aiding and abetting the process, but thats just because they're all bought and paid for by the corporate giants who have expanded to control all governments through economic market monopoly. $ talks, everything else listens and does what $ says. big business has government in one hand and the little people in the other through consumerism via lousy education and company-town-writ-big pressure. the trump card they keep in their back pocket: the media; controlling the debate and focus and so the 'truth'. Intended or not, this murder is an amazing polling device. but the truth here is: we don't know who committed it and why.

couple things y'all need to

couple things y'all need to know about Clay Co KY: a) it sits smack in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest, the location of choice for those who grow KY's #1 cash crop (aka weed) b) the area also boasts a booming meth mfg biz, in addtion to c) the moonshining that has been going on there for centuries. IF this death turns out to be a homicide (the FBI still hasn't ruled out suicide) there are more likely reasons for it than the stuff you folx have been flinging around

Tom Martin (not verified) said on Thursday, 09/24/2009 - 18:38 β€” presumably referring to the Census Bureau: "an organization that is funded by money coercively taken from tax payers" How do you call it coercion when the Census Bureau was set up by our elected representatives in congress? Is this not (supposed to be) a democratic republic? I have myself been extremely critical of many aspects of how our government is functioning, but taxes will always be associated with any government, and there will always be some things you don't care to support. Casting aspersions about those working, often diligently, in the Census Bureau, because they are funded by tax dollars, is ridiculous. I hate the fact that my tax dollars are funding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a military that equals the totality of the rest of the world's military. I hate the fact that my tax dollars have bailed out the Wall St billionaires, while the middle class and poor folks have been getting screwed for 35 years. But is it coercion involved in taking my tax dollars? No, I think any government must make decisions about what is worth spending money on in the public interest. Is the public interest abused? Yes, often. But I think it is our electorate who must always bear responsibility for the actions of government because we elected those who are doing all of this. Unless you want to live on an isolated island somewhere in the middle of some ocean, you will never be able to avoid being disappointed with some of the actions of even the most fair, and least imperfect, government. And no, I don't think our government is the least imperfect. But it is up to us to change it.

I've been reading the

I've been reading the comments, and I just want to answer those of you who keeping saying it isn't a census year. In 2008 I applied and took a test to work for the census. They offered $12 an hour for part-time work. Beginning in the Spring of 2009 I was supposed to go door-to-door to verify addresses. I believe April 2010 is when the census is completed, but not when it actually begins. By the way, I changed my mind when I learned that I had to work nights. I also want to address the poster who said Life Insurance won't pay if you kill yourself. Not totally true. I've sold Life Insurance, and it's only for a limited time. Most states have a contestable period. It's usually anywhere from 1 to 3 years, depending on the state. In other words, if after 2 years you can jump off a bridge or call up Dr. Kevorkian and state law makes the insurance company pay your beneficiaries.

For those who wonder how

For those who wonder how this could happen in a non-census year, the Census Bureau has been verifying addresses earlier during 2009: http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/2010_census/013441.html and conducting various preparatory activities in earlier years: http://2010.census.gov/2010census/about_2010_census/007623.html

i'm confused, if the last

i'm confused, if the last census was taken in 2000, when did Bill Sparkman participate in conducting a census? The census is conducted every 10 years, and assuming these facts are sufficient and correct then we'd expect Sparkman to be showing up at people's homes in 2010. But it doesn't make total sense, since people probably only do this kind of job once in a lifetime, since who knows what could change in 10 years. If this crime was committed by people holding anti-government sentiments then i would expect that Sparkman had recently been on a census. On the other hand maybe the time of the census is staggered, and maybe it's staggered for some strange safety reason but whatever the reason census are taken through a 6 month period or something like that. Anyways, we live in fascism, we worship capitalism which is not only the adequate description of our economic system but also of our government. But there's still hope, there are always going to be people who naturally reject capitalistic attitudes and embrace something else. And anything is better than capitalism, which is insidious in its self-destructiveness. It's taken a long time for man to reach this breaking point, but it is thanks to the length of time that has led us to this point that all natural systems have had enough time to fully absorb the changes that we have thrust onto them. The ocean takes 7 years to "stir itself fully' so.............. wow how did i end up talking about census workers to this? oops sorry

I am absolutely astounded

I am absolutely astounded and appalled at the paranoia expressed in these comments.

Please call it what the death of t his man is: a lynching

Yeesh! You don't need a GPS

Yeesh! You don't need a GPS unit to find the coordinates of someone's house. Just pull up a satellite image and start looking. Then hover your mouse over it. Done. I would guess the GPS was tied into a way to take the census faster, doesn't have to write down the address. Done. Next. ri, 09/25/2009 - 03:23 β€” Anthony V said, "People on the left have perpetrated violence countless times against their opponents." PLEASE GIVE EXAMPLES. The violence of domestic terrorists lately have all been right wingers like the Holocaust museum shooter, the Dr. Tiller Killer ... And 04:04 β€” it seems that years ago said, "Calm down or I'm leaving." LETS GO ! ... where? If we don't get some stable non-fossil energy sources going to make us energy independent from carbon and uranium that will both run out ... and some civilized health insurance. I plan to leave the US. But I'm curious where and why where others will go ? I started a FaceBook group, EmigrateForHealth where I hope folks can compare notes on finding a civilized country to start their small businesses and nonprofits in. Really, America seems to be completely falling off the hinges. I was quite frantic until I realized, "Hey, there's a whole planet out there! I don't have to stay here for this insanity!"

The census is purposely

The census is purposely undercounted for reasons of defeat of Federal help for poor and rural people. It has long been held hostage by the extreme right for nefarious election purposes and gerrymandering. We would be shocked to find the true population of the US, especially in California.

It's sad that innocent

It's sad that innocent people keep paying for the crimes of very evil people in government who keep getting away with the most atrocious crimes including torture and mass murder.

JohnnyGenlock very ballsy of

JohnnyGenlock very ballsy of you to say those things in a public forum. I used to think militia types were nuts. Not anymore. Bush is obviously a murderer and had Reagan hit--did anybody ever wonder why somebody in love with Jodie Foster would shoot RR--made no sense whatsoever. But the information that the Hinckleys were buds with the Bush Klan makes the whole thing make a lot of sense. Until American terrorists are captured and dealt with, we will continue to live a hellish existence. Pay attention to what J Genlock has to say.

So much heat and so little

So much heat and so little light. Facts are often inconvenient to paranoiacs and conspiracy lovers. Truth is often hard to swallow and the outcome of fair elections difficult to accept. While all major media outlets offer shows that are more entertainment than news with commentators replacing journalist newspersons, FOX is by far the worst (an exception being Sheppard Smith). Almost nothing that comes out of the mouths of Beck, Hannity, or "O'Really" squares with factual evidence. A harmless census worker is dead and the evidence seems to point toward a lynching--it's difficult to believe that he would print FED across his chest before hanging himself. Until the FBI and local authorities release more information, that is ALL that is known. For those of you feel the need to rail against the government and demonize its personnel, I would remind you that we hold elections in a democracy and rational adults live with the consequences. If you don't like the outcome of an election, vote against the person in the next election OR you could move to someplace like Somalia where the inconvenience of government has been effectively done away with.

ONE of two things happened

ONE of two things happened here Either the govt knocked this guy off themselves and are implying it was civil liberties types to show how "evil" these people are who "dare" to stand up for their rights OR some justifyably outraged person or persons found out this guy was one of the people who rigged the elections LIVE BY THE SWORD DIE BY THE SWORD thats just the way it is

No, John at 1:21 on 9/25,

No, John at 1:21 on 9/25, you're not conspiratorial or liberal, and we are not jumping to conclusions. I was born in California but lived in Kentucky for seven years and I can aver on good authority that this is the work of crazy right-wingers; Kentucky is crawling with them, despite the beautiful countryside and proximity to Cincinnati and Memphis. There is a Progressive presence there, also - and I can go on any record about that because I sheltered among them. That presence, however, is not the majority in that part of the country, that benighted, under-educated, fearful part of the country that shares the same Constitutional rights I do.
