Is the Election About to Be Stolen in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Elsewhere?

Last Friday, a federal court judge in Cleveland, Ohio, ordered Michael Connell, an information-technology consultant to the McCain '08 campaign, to give a deposition in a court proceeding. Mr. Connell, whose firm, GovTech Solutions, built Ohio's 2004 election results computer network, was in a position to have knowledge about the alleged manipulation of electronic voting results in that presidential contest (a technique known as "flipping") in order to switch the winner in Ohio from Sen. John Kerry to President Bush. The deposition is scheduled to take place today, November 3, one day before the 2008 general election.

Connell is a former associate of Karl Rove, who is believed by those familiar with the events in question to have engaged in witness intimidation to prevent testimony about what happened in Ohio in 2004. They also believe that IT companies associated with the Republican Party have redeveloped the capacity to manipulate electronic voting results in Tuesday's election, both within Ohio and outside, including Pennsylvania and other key battleground states such as Colorado and New Mexico. One such firm, Triad GSI, is managing voter registration databases in 55 of Ohio's 88 counties and is hosting 25 of those databases.

All this has led to speculation that the McCain campaign's insistence that they can win Pennsylvania, Ohio, and other states, despite being (in some places, significantly) behind in most of the polls, could be prompted by having been informed about planned cyber interference with electronic voting results. The reality is that a successful cyber attack only requires a few skilled IT experts with an in-depth understanding of digital security. Election returns in many states are presently emailed from local databases for statewide consolidation, without even the standard safeguards routinely used by banks and corporations. In other words, voting data can be relatively easily hacked.

The lawsuit in Ohio is being pursued as a violation of voting rights laws, and it claims that Connell witnessed a "kingpin" cyber attack on electronic voting results in several Ohio counties, the consequence of which was to give the 2004 national election to Bush (had Kerry won Ohio, he would have won the election). Serious statistical anomalies in several Ohio counties' election returns, as well as a shocking disconnect between exit polls and actual results in '04 in Ohio, have never been explained. Despite being urged by his running mate John Edwards to do so, Kerry declined to take legal action in Ohio.

The suspicions by some Democratic operatives about impending Republican interference with electronic voting in 2008 have been further fueled by the sustained bellicosity of Republican spokespeople about voter registration errors by ACORN, believing that exaggerations of the ACORN problem have been encouraged by those involved in the Republicans' own covert e-voting fraud in order to distract the media from recent news about the possibility of this far graver threat to the integrity of American elections.

The general news media are doing a serious disservice to the cause of vigilance about honest elections by having, so far, neglected the case involving one of the McCain campaign's consultants on digital technology. It would be a travesty of historic proportions if Sen. Barack Obama won the national popular vote for president by a large margin, but lost the Electoral College narrowly because of electronic voting manipulation in two or three states.

The current legal action will obviously not be resolved in time to determine the possible extent of any effort to manipulate electronic voting in 2008. But poll workers, campaign activists and local supporters of Senator Obama can do a number of practical things in order to identify and compile evidence of anomalies which may signal digital manipulation of election returns:

    1. Local activists and lawyers in any state where the vote appears close should demand that county voting officials where electronic voting systems are used should, if possible, unplug their servers from the Internet and phone in their results, and otherwise never permit external IT consultants to have unsupervised physical access to hard drives after vote counting commences.

    2. Screen captures of all television-reported exit poll numbers on all networks should be obtained for every state for which they are reported, to later compare them to actual vote tallies when they are reported - and the networks should assign a staff person to perform such checks. Any significant deviations from statewide exit polls in counties that don't have demographic factors to account for such differences should be flagged for later investigation.

    3. Vote totals for presidential and down-ballot candidates should be compared, precinct-by-precinct and county-by-county, to see if there are strange disparities. In 2004, a Democratic candidate for a judgeship in Ohio mysteriously received tens of thousands more votes than John Kerry (even though many voters never bother to vote for down-ballot candidates). This was a statistical improbability of enormous magnitude (no disrespect meant to the judge).

    4. Vote totals in safe Republican counties should be compared to the past two election cycles, to see whether any sky-high turnout is historically unprecedented and therefore cause for suspicion. That is what happened in several Republican-dominated counties in Florida in 2004. Election monitors should also watch the traffic at the polling places in Republican precincts, and maintain careful records, as a way to gauge the honesty of later claims about the turnout there.

These steps are necessary to facilitate the discovery of any circumstantial or direct evidence of possible manipulation of electronic-voting returns, which would be sufficient to enable immediate legal action to prevent certification of election results. In turn, that would permit time for a full forensic investigation. Additionally, many citizens' groups are preparing calls to action should legal remedies to any attempted vote interference falter or be obstructed.

There is ample cause for general alarm and for the measures we've recommended, in what has emerged from the ongoing court action in Ohio. If evidence of electronic-voting manipulation follows the election tomorrow, it must be pursued regardless of who wins. And if the campaigns involved do not challenge the results where this evidence emerges, or if local and state authorities do not cooperate to resolve these questions, it is certain that a tidal wave of protest will develop. Nonviolent resistance was used successfully by African-Americans to win their civil rights in the 1960s, and earlier by American women to win the right to vote. Millions would not hesitate to use it again, if there is evidence of a stolen presidential election.

The first Democratic president, Thomas Jefferson, said that "eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." The failure of the Bush administration to permit systematic reform of this nation's elections infrastructure so as to make it impossible for these manipulations to occur is bad enough. Even worse would be to refuse to take seriously the possibility that these abuses could alter or adulterate the results of what may well be the most important presidential election of our lifetimes.

I have no doubt, after the

I have no doubt, after the experiences of 2000 in Florida and 2004 in Ohio, that every attempt will be made to steal the election again in at a number of key states on Nov. 4. "Flipping" already was reported a week or two ago in Jackson County, W. Virginia, where Obama votes were being recorded for McCain. And we've read plenty about various attempts to disenfranchise voters via registrations in various other states, as well as college students being erroneously told they could not register where they were located. The GOP is really sick in the way it pursues the agenda with which it is obsessed.

Thanks for making me

Thanks for making me nauseous. The thought of the GOP and its operatives stealing a third election has me terrified. I will have to move to Canada if this fraud is again perpetrated on the nation.

Don't be scared- be

Don't be scared- be determined.

Here we are on the doorstep

Here we are on the doorstep of another US Presidential Election. If John McCain is declared the winner, everyone who voted should hit the streets and protest. It's that simple. The vote will have been manipulated because all polling up to now suggests Obama will win. And evidence exists already of vote flipping by the electronic machines. Vote flipping, voter intimidation, excessive challenges, voter purging, insufficient equipment (foreshadowed by the MSM TODAY!), secret certifications, inaccurate polling site location information. All these violations have been documented in the past 4 years and there's no reason to believe they won't be an issue this very week. STAND UP FOR YOUR VOTE, PEOPLE. And may God help us.

i AM A 60 YEAR OLD MOTHER OF

i AM A 60 YEAR OLD MOTHER OF 2 AND i PROMISE I WILL TAKE TO THE STREETS IF THEY STEAL THIS ELECTION. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THEIR DIRTY TRICKS.

A friend who voted early

A friend who voted early here in Austin Tx had that very thing happen to her. She voted a straight democratic ticket but Obama was NOT highlighted. McCain was. Fortunately she caught the error. The voting clerk told her she must have made a mistake, which was impossible. So what if this little flip takes place every 5 votes all over the country? CHECK YOUR VOTES! The rats are chewing on the wires. Sorry to say a world power like the US can't hold fair elections. We are a democracy right? If this election is stolen, look for me in the street matching to the capitol. I assure you there will be a national protest the likes of which this country has never seen.

Relax, people. All the

Relax, people. All the major poll institutes and watchers show Obama in a decisive win. IF they try to steal it this time, they'll have to explain away a major polling difference. They have no data and this isn't 2004! !

Way too little has been said

Way too little has been said about Kerry's performance in '04. The last thing he wanted to do was to run for the presidency. He was told that he would run or end his political career. He was a patsy. I, for one, believe that Obama will win because the ΓΌberclass has so ordained. The bruhaha is bread and circus - hold the bread.

When this happens tomorrow,

When this happens tomorrow, I hope that Obama will not capitulate as easily as Kerry and Gore did. This must be challenged, this evil must be rooted out. The future of our civilization is at stake.

To CBruce - Don't move to

To CBruce - Don't move to Canada. Stay and help make this country right again. It is those who made it wrong who need to go.

Thanks much Cynthia - I

Thanks much Cynthia - I agree - DONT BE SCARED - Be our best advocates and support the flow of the election - see this great site and commit to Voting Kindly! FOSTER the SPIRIT of folks to encourage them to stay in line and get their VOTE COUNTED. see www.VOTEKINDLY.org

I don't think the American

I don't think the American people will let them steal it this time. I know I will be marching in the streets banging my pots and pans, just like Molly Ivins told us to do!

I've know about the thefts

I've know about the thefts of the past two presidential elections and read Bev Harris and the other reports from statistical studies done by several universities and of course Greg Palast and Robert Kennedy, Jr.. Most telling about these reports is the lack of traction in the MSM. So, I've gone to the big three network folks and asked them why they haven't covered these heavily substanciated and documents allegations. Not a peep from any of them! Will I protest loudly if there is fraud? Darn tootin' I will.

All voting citizens should

All voting citizens should get out and protest in the streets if this elections gets rigged again. This time we should make the Vietnam protests seem like tea parties. I am not for violence or destruction but I feelWE THE PEOPLE should ROAR our insistence that our voting rights will be respected by all parties. The world must see that US citizens are active participants in their own government. Foreign government leaders need to see that the ideals of the founding fathers of the United States of America have not been abandoned to a bunch of yahoos.

I have already read about

I have already read about various obcure things they can claim. The country would be ungovernable. Wingnuts triumphant. They upped the ante too high, there would be added horrors, plus it would be like a Shakespeare tragedy in charge.

The Republicans have stolen

The Republicans have stolen the last two elections though electronic subversion. If they try it this time there will be protests and riots that will make the Vietnam protests look like a labor day picnic. This country is only nine meals away from a full fledged revolution and another stolen election could be the spark that sets it off.

If the election is stolen in

If the election is stolen in 2008 that will put McCain and the Republicans in the same category as Robert Mugabee in Zimbabwe.

The GOP is making every

The GOP is making every attempt to steal this election, just as they did in 2000 and 2004. If they do not accomplish the theft, it will only be because the actual vote overwhelmed their cheating tricks. If this is the case, the top priority after the election should be to get rid of the electronic voting machines and go to paper ballots that can be counted and recounted. If this election is stolen, take to the streets and shut the government down until we can get an honest election

REMEMBER THE UKRAINE and the

REMEMBER THE UKRAINE and the Orange Revolution! For weeks, in the freezing cold the people of the Ukraine, mostly of university age, camped out by the tens of thousands in freezing rain until their stolen election was overturned. IF THIS ELECTION IS STOLEN, again, we should be no less courageous and resolute than that emerging nation that taught America a lesson in democracy and how to fight for it. IF THIS ELECTION IS STOLEN, we should gather in Washington D.C. with our tents and sleeping bags prepared to be there until we get our democracy back. If we can't muster at least one million people for a mass shut down of DC, then we don't deserve the democracy we've lost.

And the media biggies were

And the media biggies were wondering why McCain was pulling out all the stops in Pennsylvania in recent weeks when he faced an insurmountable deficit in the polls. Could it be that he only had to get a bit closer, and his "IT team" would do the rest?

"DON'T PICK A FIGHT WITH AN

"DON'T PICK A FIGHT WITH AN OLD MAN. IF HE'S TOO OLD TO FIGHT, HE'LL JUST KILL YOU." - John Steinbeck -

Interesting comparison,

Interesting comparison, Mike. In Ukraine in 2004, Kuchma's people made sure to put Yuschenko within 3% of the incumbent in their polling, so as to make it seem legit. From what we've been able to gather from sources inside the investigation, the threshold in the individual states is 3%. In other words, if Barack is leading by 3% or more in a given state (we don't know what polling data Triad is using, however), the flipping will not be attempted. However, if the polls show that the race has "tightened" to less than 3%, they will go for it. Anyway, on that note, everyone should make a point to see "Orange Revolution" (a documentary film by Steve York) on the events in Ukraine in 2004, as well as read Mike McFaul's book, "Revolution in Orange."

Nice diversion from

Nice diversion from registration fraud of a few individuals to election fraud for the entire country with tens of thousands of disenfranchised voters and yet another election about to be stolen. How is it that the Democratic Party leadership allows paperless ballots in the first place? Who in their right mind would trust the Republican Party and the neo-cons to run a fair election? We have the system rigged from the start with people on the Republican candidates' staff acting as secretary of state and election officials. It looks like it may be time to take it too the streets - sad how Gore and Kerry rolled over but it shows the lack of true courage of the Demo candidates and the party leadership.

Ok Truthout. Please help

Ok Truthout. Please help organize the suggestions you have put forth. We the readers would be honored to take part in this, just as our vote is. Tomorrow is going to be a hell of a day!

I'm living in Mexico for the

I'm living in Mexico for the time being, but count me and my hubby in for a march in the streets if once again the GOP resorts to the tactics as usual of cheating their way in. Is democracy just window dressing to these people?????

If the Fascists (because

If the Fascists (because that's what the Repugnantcans really are) steal this election, it is time for Real Americans to rise up like the Serbs and Ukranians earlier this decade and take it to DC and demand that Obama is president. I WILL NOT STAND FOR ANOTHER ELECTION THEFT, AND I'M WILLING TO PUT MY LIFE ON THE LINE FOR A CONSTITUTIONAL AND DEMOCRATIC AMERICA, AND I'M WILLING TO DO SO BY ANY MEANS POSSILBLE, AS MALCOLM X SAID!

When the tide started to

When the tide started to turn in WWII, Winston Churchill said: "This is not the beginning of the end; this is the end of the beginning." If the election is stolen, it will not be the beginning of the end for this country. It will be the end of the beginning - of an all-out conversion to fascism. Fasten your seat belts, everybody. All of those old sayings didn't happen by accident. You know what I mean?...Things like "not being able to see the forest for the trees."

If they try to steal this

If they try to steal this election with the spread as large as it stands they expose themselves to jail time. I don't think they are willing to let the cat out of the bag with the spread so large. It is not close enough to risk it.

The bilge is flowing

The bilge is flowing everywhere -- one such pile is the letter in some areas advising people that Tuesday was reserved for Republicans to vote, with Democrats "directed" to vote on Wednesday! It isn't just electronic hacking, it's screaming stupid LYING TREACHERY! There is no slime that those felons won't try, by way of stealing yet another election. And this year they're desperate -- they know that their schemes led to the economic meltdown, and that public reaction is heavily against them. As for the MSM, they live by advertising, and the corporations that pay the money call the tune. We may need to pile up the tea bags for November 5. And this tea party won't be limited to Boston harbor.

All Hallows Eve: Do you

All Hallows Eve: Do you remember when after 12 years of Reaganism you were relieved that Clinton was elected? Even though he was destined to sell out your health care to HMO criminals? Even though he was destined to destroy more of the social contract than any Republican before him? Do you remember how happy the Germans were after 12 years of Hitlerism to have a happy Adenauer regime (please consult Heinrich Boell for details)? Now maybe tomorrow we will be happy after 8 years of a fascist nightmare to see 8 years of ?????? ???? ??? ?? ?

Take to the streets? Heck,

Take to the streets? Heck, I'll take to the train. Straight to DC, baby. I'll quit my job if I have to. No way, no how.

Here in Oregon we've had

Here in Oregon we've had vote by mail for ten years. It works well. Your ballot comes in the mail. You make your choices at home at your convenience, then mail or deliver your ballot to a local drop box. Simple. Secure. Paper trail. Why are any states still messing with computers, polling places and long lines?

This is written to create a

This is written to create a record of something that might happen on and after Election Day, so that proper legal and street action can be taken if it does. I am 91 years of age and have voted in every election since 1938, when I became old enough to vote under the laws of that day (age 21). Should there be evidence that Obama, who leads in the polls, lost in the voting due to any of the techniques used to steal elections, there will be street protests. I

I am 91 years of age and

I am 91 years of age and have voted in every election since 1938. I have never thrown a punch, never used violence in any way. Should there be evidence that this election will have been stolen, I will be out in the streets taking part in protests, as I have on innumerable occasions in my long life. Should there be violence, I will make it my business to be where it is occurring. Should it result in violence against me, my health is such that it may result in my death. I hope this message will cause people to act in such a manner as to help turn the tide against the perpetrators of violence in the future.

From another country: Think

From another country: Think twice about "taking to the streets", for several reasons. Legal means and/or a peaceable strike will work better. Any violence will legitimize repression (so watch for "agents provocateurs"). More importantly and somewhat ominously, from what I have read, Bush has moved in US troops to police US cities, in defiance of the Posse Comitatus act. FEMA has been building a number of internment camps, all across the USA. They also have a stockpile of 500,000 plastic coffins at a single location in Georgia. This of course could all be coincidence. http://www.freedomfiles.org/war/fema.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeqjykY5wPk&feature=related "the First Brigade of the Third Infantry Division, three to four thousand soldiers, has been deployed in the United States as of October 1. Their stated mission is the form of crowd control they practiced in Iraq, subduing "unruly individuals," and the management of a national emergency." http://www.countercurrents.org/wolf081008.htm Let's just hope and pray this is all just coincidence, and meant to protect American citizens, rather than to control them. BTW, I've been voting all my life in my country, and have never had to line up for more than five minutes to vote. Something is dreadfully wrong when polling opportunities are diminished or denied. Good luck with your election.

I have voted by absentee

I have voted by absentee ballot from Canada. Tomorrow I am holding a day of meditation with the request and the promise that my Spirit Guides will cooperate with an Army of vote watchers from the Spirit realm that will have as their priority, to guard the choice of every voter in this election, so that the intention of every voter will be counted as correctly cast. That is my request form our Cosmic Brothers and sisters, that with their help we can be assured that the best man will win, for the sake of the United States and the entire world. Please add your prayers to this spiritual petition to help make this possible. Let God's Love and Blessing be on everyone during this election effort.

If you own a videocamera,

If you own a videocamera, film yourself in the voting booth. Then, there will be solid evidence of your chosen candidate.

There will be no third

There will be no third election steal : there will be a civil unrest of major proportions renedering the country ungovernable...So it is written , so it shall be.

The cyber community along

The cyber community along with the progressive/liberal community should already have a plan of action in place should this election be stolen. I've no doubt that there would be a call to go to Washington DC to fill the streets. Action should also be taken to shut down commerce. A general strike for all workers should go into effect immediately. Just shut down wall street and main street altogether. Hit 'em where they'll feel it first, right in the wallet.

There's no need to steal an

There's no need to steal an election this time. It's a win/win situation for the powers that be. If you pick McCain, they win. If you pick Obama, they still win. There is no choice, silly people. The powers that be have been rigging elections since JFK. There are other candidates running for President besides Obama and McCain. Why has there been no media coverage (including Truthout) to speak of on these other candidates? Why weren't they included in the debates? Why do the powers that be and the media act as tho there's only 2 candidates to choose from? This should raise a red flag that we are not being given choices. That should've been obvious when Hilary Clinton was given the boot. She won both the popular and electoral vote and the powers that be still eliminated her while we did nothing. Just like we did nothing when Bush stole the election, not once, but twice. And like we will do nothing when the men behind the curtain choose our president for us in this election. Democrats? Republicans? There is no difference between the parties. That's why they can jump ship from one party to the other without changing a thing other than their label. Wake up America. I refuse to vote for either one of the "choices" the powers that be have presented to us. I will instead vote for the best "man" on the ticket. Who isn't a man at all. I will be voting for Cynthia McKinney.

Obviously they are planning

Obviously they are planning to steal the vote. My only hope is that they are overwhelmed and that some of them chicken out at the last minute. Only massive voting can make this happen. There is no doubt in my mind that Obama's result will be reduced by several percentage points. Pray his margin is high enough. What worries me is how smart they are. They have obviously learned from previous elections and will more and more have a holistic approach, from long lines in democratic districts, to "we are gaining" public statements to gentle and discreet nudging of margins. They'll try not to make their manipulation obvious this year, which will of course make it next to impossible to spot. Nonviolent public protest is important. Also another hope is that Obama is a real fighter. I think they underestimate him. He's no John Kerry. Should his legal fight be as good as his campaign he may pull this off. FIGHT, BARACK.

It will be harder for them

It will be harder for them to steal the election this time. Many people are suspicious, and many people are watching. If they are caught, it will be over for the Republican party. It could become a quagmire for the next few days, but I'm hoping for an Obama landslide. Even if they cheat in the states mentioned, Obama could still win. Just do not stay home because you think it's rigged, our only chance is a landslide. Awoke at 3:30 this morning, couldn't sleep today. Will be voting at 9:30 in Maryland for Obama and straight democratic ticket.

Ohio, Colorado, Nevada, New

Ohio, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, and many other states now have voter-verified paper records to back up their electronic voting machine tallies (in case a recount is needed) so It will tougher to steal an election in those states. Check this web site: http://verifiedvoting.org/

The Rethuglicans may well

The Rethuglicans may well try to steal another election. It doesn't require a countrywide conspiracy, just a few manipulations in a a few states, enough to put McSame over the electoral count. People in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, etc., should be vigilant and if they see any evidence of fraud or chicanery, do their best to get it into the faces of the reporters who will be gathered around. Raise hell! And get the biggest audience for it that they can!

Between Boaz et al here and

Between Boaz et al here and Palast in the preceeding TO article, things are looking awfully dicey this time around. My suspicion is that the Rethuglicans will be bolder this time since their horrid hold on power is more tenuous this time than last. Dick and his dummy have already put some post elections controls in place; the camps are built and the Army can legally operate in the US (Posse comitatus was repealed in "Patriot" II). From the comments here, those fascists are gonna need that and more. I'm 62, retired, and will be in DC for the duration if those SOBs do it again. PS: America can run a clean democratic election but, as they have said repeatedly, the Rethuglicans can't win such an election.

If the election is indeed

If the election is indeed stolen, our number 1 priority should be a massive email, snailmail, phone call and any other form of communication to the major networks shaming them for not even covering election tampering, voter suppression, and the rest that has been out there for 3 years now. THEN take to the streets. Watch out for the third infantry brigade dispatched Oct. 1st. We are in the biggest crisis this country has ever faced and resistance is paramount. We are as close to a fascist regime we have ever been. Had enough?

I hear on the news that the

I hear on the news that the polls in Ohio have "tightened" from 3.5% lead for obama to just 2% "overnight"... Sounds like we're being softened up for Ohio to be flipped once again...

If this election is stolen,

If this election is stolen, I am ready for civil disobedience and revolution! AND if anyone tells me I have to go to the FREE SPEECH ZONE, the war will be on! I, for one, am not going to allow the country I love to be taken over by Neo-Nazi, thugs! Enough is definitely, ENOUGH!

WRONG! They will say it is

WRONG! They will say it is the, Bradley Effect! All the whites who said they were for Obama in the polls, just couldn't really cast their vote for a blackie... That, in a few words, will be their explanation for the difference in the numbers... "Relax, people. All the major poll institutes and watchers show Obama in a decisive win. IF they try to steal it this time, they'll have to explain away a major polling difference. They have no data and this isn't 2004! !"

Revolution? Revolt? What

Revolution? Revolt? What country are we talking about again? America - the land of the fat and lazy and Ritalined and Prozaced who've been basically snoozing in the stands while their God-blessed country tanks on all fronts? Seriously, kids - if McCrazy "wins," the vast majority of We The Peeps will yawn and get back to the Xmas shopping ASAP, while the few usual protest suspects will be FOX-labeled liberal terrorist traitors before being carted off like the 400 in MN no one cared about... The protest era is done, folks...

Remember, we can win but

Remember, we can win but that does not mean Palast is wrong, or that this article is wrong. It does make a difference if the victory is 5 million vs. 10 million plus. I prayed/meditated this morning that if anyone was to cheat in this election, i.e. rig it, that they would be caught red handed by dawn... We need to secure democracy, not just a Democratic ascendancy. Just as there never has been a 'silent majority' or a 'moral majority' in this country, we can never have justice until ever vote is counted. Until the criminals of recent occupancy are arranged and incarcerated.... Not that I suffer from blood lust.

Let's be pro-active, make

Let's be pro-active, make use of our pending access to the executive branch, keep the issues alive, and not let antipathy toward the two-party system divert us from making the necessary changes to our voting system. The time to react was immediately after the Rolling Stones article on voter fraud 3 years ago, and not wait until right before the election and get distraught because we haven't addressed the problems. If the Bush adminstration and an impotent Congress fueled the apathy, we now have fewer excuses to keep from acting. Would our opportunity to make the necessary changes be with us now (with the change of administrations) if we had squandered more votes on third-party candidates? I am looking at the potential cabinet members and thinking that perhaps we will have a middle-of-the-road administration, but at least they have the promise to be more accessible than the Bush administration. I think that with Tom Daschle as likely chief of staff, that every American will have access to the executives in power. I felt that level of comfort with Daschle as my Senator in South Dakota and think that will extend to the White House.

A prevailing mindset seems

A prevailing mindset seems to be that election-theft can only be perpetrated by the right, however there is no reason it could not occur from any direction. Indeed, attempts to influence election outcomes through voting process manipulation are as old as elections themselves. Perhaps it has occured in this election as well. The entire process needs to be completely re-formed to make fraud impossible to perpetrate from any side at any time, and should completely be decided by popular vote alone... we have the means.
