Home to a worldwide summit on climate change in early December, Denmark is setting a global example in creating clean power, storing it and using it responsibly. The country's reliance on wind power to produce electricity without contributing to global warming is well-known, but now they're looking to drive the point home with electric cars. To do this, they've partnered with social entrepreneur Shai Agassi and his company, Better Place.

NOW investigates how the Danish government and Better Place are working together to put electric cars into the hands of as many Danish families as possible. The idea is still having trouble getting out of the garage here in America, but Denmark could be an inspiration.

Will so much green enthusiasm bring about a "Copenhagen Protocol"? This show is part of a series on social entrepreneurs at work that we call "Enterprising Ideas."

I'm all for green energy so

I'm all for green energy so long as I am not forced to pay for it.

The usual BS ! After running

The usual BS ! After running out of oil, growth boomers want to run out of lithium for batteries and neodymium for hi-tech magnets and motors, to build a giga-fleet of private cars. http://www.meridian-int-res.com/Projects/Lithium_Microscope.pdf The timelines for Green Mobility do not synch with Peak Oil, either. Can the global car industry build 900 million electric cars in 25 years ? Only to replace the 2009 fleet of Apocalypse Wagons ! Zero fleet growth, that is. Then the power plants to recharge them at lets say 3.5 kW each, or 300 000 MW of new, additional capacity ? This is worse than BS, its another Climate Change scam

Since Chile is has the

Since Chile is has the largest deposits of Lithium, I expect the U.S. to launch an invasion against them, right after its taken out Iran. That way, with oil at $300 a barrel, electric cars will make economic sense. They won't any other way...

Electric cars are useful in

Electric cars are useful in small doses, and can be beneficial for the environment. However, they cannot, and should not, be used to replace cars on the mass scale. We need more efficient long distance transportation systems for cargo and passengers, such as electrified rail. http://www.selfdestructivebastards.com/2009/10/electric-cars-in-small-doses.html
