Washington - President Bush's former spokesman, Scott McClellan, will testify before a House committee next week about whether Vice President Dick Cheney ordered him to make misleading public statements about the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity. McClellan will testify publicly and under oath before the House Judiciary Committee on June 20 about the White House's role in the leak and its response, his attorneys, Michael and Jane Tigar, said on Monday.

In his new book, "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," McClellan said he was misled by others, possibly including Cheney, about the role of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby in the leak. McClellan has said publicly that Bush and Cheney "directed me to go out there and exonerate Scooter Libby."

The statements prompted House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., to invite McClellan to the hearing "concerning reported attempts to cover up the involvement of White House officials in the leak of" Plame's identity.

Plame's CIA identity was leaked to the news media by several top Bush administration officials in 2003, including Libby and former top White House political adviser Karl Rove. Last July, Bush commuted Libby's 2 1/2-year sentence, sparing him from serving any prison time after being convicted of perjury, obstructing justice and lying to the FBI.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., also is seeking more FBI documents about the leak in part because of McClellan's description of the way he was instructed to respond to questions on the matter.

At Libby's trial, witnesses testified that Cheney, Libby and other Bush administration officials mounted a campaign to counter criticism of the Iraq war by Plame's husband, Joseph Wilson. Cheney's spokeswoman, Cathie Martin, testified that Cheney personally wrote out statements and talking points for Libby and other aides to give to reporters to rebut Wilson's allegations.

I can't wait!

I can't wait!

I look forward to

I look forward to McClellan's testimony, although I'm sure there will not be many surprises. . It might be too late for impeachment for Bush, Cheney and their nefarious bunch... but it's never too late for PROSECUTION for HIGH TREASON!!

I ordered McClellan's book a

I ordered McClellan's book a week ago. It came in today. I'll be holed up reading for the next couple days, however long it takes to read it, and I can't wait till the TV watchers hear his testimony! I hope it leads to some justice for Bush, et. al.

we all know what happened

we all know what happened and who did it: that is the reason why they pardoned Libby so he wouldn't testify about it. it is treason. they should be in jail. McClellan knew what was going on, and now he is feeling guilty about the fact he was one of the conspirators. That is a good sign. Even a Republican can have a conscience. Stranger miracles than that have happened.

1/20/09 The day they meet

1/20/09 The day they meet their maker. After O's first appointment of John Edwards as his Attorney General, Edwards will work like a man possessed with the keys to the kingdom and the investigative power to prove himself a champion to the people by coercing the responsible to account, just as he has been doing his entire life. Instead this time, instead of going after evil corporations, he'll be able to unleash on the bastard villains of our current administration ... while showboating the whole way ... as I'm sure John still has future presidential ambitions. Get out the popcorn, it's going to be a bloodbath.

Could the ultimate out come

Could the ultimate out come be an impeachable offense. If not change the laws to retroactive.

There is virtually no

There is virtually no mainstream media coverage of the Kucinich articles of impeachment for Bush and Cheney. Tell me the recent outspokenness from Bill Moyers and Dan Rather on this very subject is not accurate. What is good for corporate America is not always fit to print.

Impeachment proceedings must

Impeachment proceedings must be started now. That is the only way to safeguard the Presidency for future Presidents. If it is not done, we might as well just admit that we prefer a Dictator. It means that we are no longer a Nation governed by the Rule of Law. Too much is at stake to not impeach. We demand that Congress do it's duty no matter how much they may fear being blackmailed. I can think of no other reason that any of them could have. They all must understand that allowing this President and his whole Administration to go unpunished will most assuredly lose them the plush jobs that they love so much. They will be Voted Out. But maybe they all know something that we do not know..like maybe there will not Be an election! I sure can't think of a more plausible reason.

It is NOT TOO LATE to (at

It is NOT TOO LATE to (at least) start the impeachment process and it should imperatively be done : even if unfinished this administration must leave office with a huge cloud of grime, crime and slime hanging over their lying collective heads. In handcuffs would be even better!(I just dream on...). They did participate knowingly in the murder and maiming of hundreds of thousands of children, women & men (our troops and the Iraqui civilians together). Murder, even under false nationalist pretenses, is still murder! Genklag

It is late but we the people

It is late but we the people need to know. I live in another country at present and it is stunning to realize that everything we grew up believing about our country and it's principles is nothing to this refuse in power. Treason in time of war is a capital crime...

Can you imagine if a

Can you imagine if a "leftist" outed a CIA agent? They'd have been hung by now. Don;t convict these folks now when they'd just get another Presidential pardon. Wait til Bush is gone and then nail them all!!!!!!!!!

Dennis Kucinich introduced

Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment into the Congressional Record yesterday! Essentially, only the Detroit Free Press, Yahoo News and two local TV stations reported it. Help break the media barons' stranglehold on the news. Go find the Yahoo article, and forward it to your email list, with subject "News Chain, please forward!"
