Wasserman-Schultz: GOP Gave Women "Back of the Hand"

On a conference call (.mp3) with reporters today, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz seems to have upped the rhetorical ante in the push to cast Republican parliamentary tactics  as sexist, comparing their repeated interruptions to violence against women.

She told reporters she wanted to "express and underscore my concern over essentially what amounts to the Republicans' 'back-of-the-hand' treatment to women, issues that are important to women, particularly women's health."

"We already have had a clear sense that republicans were opposed to our efforts at advancing women's health interests. Now we know that they are opposed to letting women voice their opinions on health care as well," she said. "I've been in office for 17 years, and I have never seen a more disrespectful display than the one put on by my colleagues on the other side of the aisle Saturday morning, when they literally shouted down a group of female members who were just trying to discuss how the House health care reform bill will help women."

Where are the disciplinary

Where are the disciplinary measures to instantly halt this kind of putrid behavior by Republicans. This is the sort of evidence that betrays how so very far to the Right this country has swayed. This country's political state of affair is like a very sick dog that needs to be put to sleep.

Can Truthout obtain video of this? I'd love to see it for myself.

Where are all the Republican

Where are all the Republican women now? Once again, we see not Myladies Bush, Cheney, Rove, McCain, Boehner, Steele, &al living an unprotected-reproductive-drivne-life as their males speak so vehemently of--ooh no, they all live & take full advantage of their liberal reproductive safety of choice & full protection--it is called privacy.
