Lou Dobbs Resigns From CNN

Wednesday 11 November 2009

Longtime CNN anchor Lou Dobbs announced his resignation from the cable news network Wednesday afternoon, effective immediately. Here's a clip of Lou Dobbs announcing his resignation on-air Wednesday afternoon.

Dobbs, who in recent months has become closely aligned with the fringe "birther" movement, a far right-wing group that believes President Obama was not born in the United States and questions the veracity of his birth certificate, seemed to suggest that his departure was not entirely voluntary.

"Over the past six months it’s become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us, and some leaders in media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond the role here at CNN and to engage in constructive problem solving as well as to contribute positively to the great understanding of the issues of our day. And to continue to do so in the most honest and direct language possible," Dobbs said.

In a statement, CNN President Jonathan Klein said Dobbs "has now decided to carry the banner of advocacy journalism elsewhere.”

Dobbs' contract was set to expire in 2011. Dobbs said Klein agreed to release him from his contract early in order to allow him to "pursue new opportunities."

good riddance indeed! I want

good riddance indeed! I want open borders and this is called progress! I better call my senators to make a bill for amnesty!

i'm saddened on behalf of

i'm saddened on behalf of the xenophobe community, treating people like humans is so wrong!

As usual, liberals strive to

As usual, liberals strive to silence all opposition. Unfortunately, they sometimes succeed. It's the only way they stand a chance of their vision prevailing.

i stopped watching him some

i stopped watching him some time ago when it became apparent that he was aligning himself with a "right wing" movement. i felt that his "reporting" was slanted and subjective. i wish him well and am glad that he is gone from cnn. i expect to see him on fox in the near future.

he's probably headed for Fox

he's probably headed for Fox

Betcha he'll be on Fox.

Betcha he'll be on Fox.

I was an extremely devoted

I was an extremely devoted fan of Lou's -- maybe fanatical is more accurate. As I have stated elsewhere, Lou isn't going to hibernate in a cave. There is 22% unemployment. For nearly a decade, Lou railed against outsourcing of millions of American jobs, the only TV person to do so. Per Martin Weiss: I am often asked: Is the recession over? My answer is "yes." But to the more important question — is America's long-term depression over? — my answer is a firm "no." In the years ahead, we're likely to see a series of longer-than-usual recessions interrupted by shorter-than-normal recoveries, all adding up to a long depression.

Hmmmmm...good riddance, you

Hmmmmm...good riddance, you might want to do some arithmetic. Many polls, not just one, two, three, or four. Try NumbersUSA and you'll see about 6 - 7 years of various polls -- several dozens of polls, all against an amnesty. I believe Robinson Crusoe was marooned on an island.

It is unfortunate that Lou

It is unfortunate that Lou has of recent aligned himself with the extreme right fringe. In the early part of this decade he was the only network voice for American workers on the issue of unmitigated globalization. Sadly, over time he began blending his legitimate concerns about offshoring, non-immigrant visas (H1B) and illegal immigrants with xenophobic rants. It is tragic that he could not stay on point. Now the legitimate problems he brought attention to will be relegated to the back pages or 30 second sound bites. I seriously hope that someone who is more credible than Lou will take on these problems in the National spotlight.

You say you want open

You say you want open boarders... who is going to pay for the welfare?

No one has problems w/

No one has problems w/ facts: if certain demographics have serious problems, let see the facts & do what is necessary to prevent, minimize or eradicate the problem--like polio. If the US did not have its current form of slave labor now-called 'illegal' the country could not eat as well & certainly not make profits. Drive around Dallas & see how many construction employees are of 'varied' demographic sources?

Dollars to Donuts he'll be

Dollars to Donuts he'll be back on the air at Faux News before Thanksgiving.

Look for Dobbs on the

Look for Dobbs on the campaign trail with Palin soon. It might have been better to keep him contained in a format that is essentially without credibility - his CNN desk.

Lou no!! You pull out of

Lou no!! You pull out of reporting, and Tom Delay pulls out of dancing with the stars? And palin quits her post in Alaska? Whats with all these right-wing quitters?! Can you imagine the awful add campaign Rove could come up with if there were this many high profile liberal quitters? where will they all go? up next: dancing with the xenophobes. but so much dance and music is ethnically diverse....hmmm thats a problem. maybe they'll do the charleston.

I predict anti-immigrant,

I predict anti-immigrant, BIG-MOUTH DOBBS will now enter one of two careers: K Street or run for political office. Or are they one career? .

Anon. @ 06:06 - Pot. Kettle.

Anon. @ 06:06 - Pot. Kettle. Black. Can you say "Free Speech Zones"? And THAT is the problem, as I see it. BOTH sides play the game, and it is to the detriment of our society. Today, we see mega-corporations on both sides, none of which care a whit about the truth, but only in promoting their own narrow cause. Would that we lived in a world where an outlet like TruthOut is not needed to counteract the propoganda that has been spread over the last decade or so.

I was amazed that Dobbs

I was amazed that Dobbs lasted so long voicing outrage against illegal immigration, something corporate America strongly supports. This is why both both parties of our corporate sponsored Congress and all our corporate media want “immigration reform” i.e. amnesty, even Bush wanted that. Since the last amnesty, 20 million more illegals flooded across, driving down wages and helping bust unions, like the meatpackers. But Dobbs led a populist revolt that killed “reform”. The media attacked him, often calling him a racist, even though his wife is from Mexico. The attacks were so widespread that the public began to turn against him, hence all the incorrect posts here. Now with 20% unemployment, Dobbs was upsetting the poor and working class by asking why the President and Congress still allows over one million visas to import workers each year. Dobbs also attacked jobs outsourcing, lobbyists, and wanted to bring the troops home. Yes, Dobbs had to go, he wouldn’t read the teleprompter like those at CNN.

Or maybe pull a Ross Perot

Or maybe pull a Ross Perot on FOX. Just think what a third party could do as Perot got 19% of the vote. Euros have many more parties than we and form governing coalitions. Hmmmm, might the third part guy squeeze some balls of one of the duopoly. Give the 3rd party person enough $$ and popular support, and the scenario is not all far fetched. Obama and his administration will not be able to significantly reduce 22% unemployment. 9% manufacturing payroll; maybe 40% Burger King payrolls; 30% hi tech payrolls diminishing as more go off shore, thank you Congress and vrs. presidents. Do the arithmetic.

Good riddance and aligned

Good riddance and aligned with the far right?? Some of you people are just pure morons, and pathetic sludge if you think the majority of America follows your dumb ass views. Lou may have DECIDED to leave CNN, but that is due to the leftist regime that runs it, and the slumping ratings they are receiving for being a liberally biased network. I hope that Lou does go to Fox, because they are the NUMBER ONE news network in the country! So take that left trash, put it in your pipe and smoke it liberal jack offs! There will be NO AMNESTY for the illegal beaners. And when we take back America, we will round up all the criminals, and throw their uneducated useless carcases back into that cesspool Mexico.

And by the way... the only

And by the way... the only people that call Lou a big mouth, anti immigrant (ILLEGAL ALIEN!) and a xenophobe, are the pathetically weak liberals whose azzes I KICK on a daily basis, due to their being cowards and weak. They run and hide like the cowards they are. Beat them till they cry would be my motto. Unfortunately, they cry at the hint of a threat and run. America doesn't need Illegals and cowards. We need real men who fight for this country, just as they have in each war, while the beyatches ran to Canada. Any time liberals, any time!

Its a good thing he left. He

Its a good thing he left. He only left a legacy of hatred through his entire journalistic career. I want him gone so that way me and the rest of the open borders advocates will proceed to what America is truly about: No borders and more freedom for the citizens of other countries to come as freely as they can with no documentation. I want to continue to advocate for stripping down the terrible system called " citizenship" since we are in fact already citizens under the United Nation's Charter. A citizenship card is indeed a dead end concept that will be forever forgotten in the bins of time. That will mean we can freely move to whatever we want to without no penalty from governments that we cannot come to any nation. And whenever we step to a different country we will have all of it that is free to what citizens of their countries have received. This is simply a step forward for abandoning the very old world concept of 'borders' and into the the new world of continents rather than the word " country". I express my profound excitement of this new age to come forth this near future. Hope to continue to see this as a positive direction for all citizens of the world.

I for one am going to really

I for one am going to really miss Lou Dobb's commentary and his wholesomeness. I just cannot believe the comments made here are indeed that jubilant of losing a point of view on the CNN networks. Without listening to the other side's viewpoint, diversity of thought will continue to decline til it becomes a single thought. Lou Dobb would have agreed with me that illegal immigration in its current form will slowly strip away the fruits of this nation. I cannot bear to watch this nation fall even further towards anarchy. Without his fierce passion of protecting the common US citizen and many of 'us' legal immigrants who are waiting patiently for receiving citizenship card will without a doubt begin to lose hope of that lone voice from CNN. I hope that Lou Dobbs from whatever he is at will continue to fight for all legal immigrants and citizens cause we seriously need a voice for us or else it would be painful to continue to wait for just a citizenship card unlike the illegal immigrants that easily just hop the borders or come by sea in a flotilla. This is a very sad moment for me and many of my legal immigrant friends from Rutgers University to see him go.

As a native to California I

As a native to California I for one have seen first hand of the true nature of illegal immigration and it is not a picture of utopia. In fact, back in the early 1960s, California without a doubt had the best of the best whether it be entertainment, culture, business, or even the diversity of wide selections of almost every kind of thought. We had the best schools and the best colleges that is co-opted with the utmost honesty for turning out the trained best. After 40 and some odd years later, California is in a terrible shape and quite likely will probably not survive the next decade. The waves of illegal immigrants that have filtered through our porous borders have totally changed the demographics and the landscape that was once the beautiful. Replaced with tons of trash being thrown into the deserts to high mountainous areas to lowlands have completely been disregarded by illegal immigrant caring the landscape. Not only blanketing the entire landscapes with trash but also come in with a whole host of problems that they themselves carry. Whether it be not educated, filled with horrid diseases that are suppose to be eradicated decades ago, carrying multiple children or very large extended families, have no regards of assimilation that live in a closed society, or any other problems that exist, we have to somehow take care of them? I can be as forgiving to an extent, but once one person hears of such opportunities that this country is like milk and honey, they will relentless pursue it til resources are drained and move on to the next location. I do not want to leave my native Californian lands, but I have to seriously force myself to rethink of living in California and live in an area that can be sustainable with enforcement of the laws. I hate to even say that I do not like nor care for the illegal immigrants in the most obtuse and abusive language but it is a serious issue that needs to be address with honesty and not with partisan bickering that will swallow any GOOD suggestions down the drain. I hope that one day, when I look back during this tumultuous decade that California will somehow retain its former glory. Losing an advocate for legal immigration and for regular folks like me from CNN is very painful for me to watch. I feel almost to the point of crying of losing a point of view just to be blown out of the waters by partisan views. This is truly what I have felt like being hopeless and helpless in an increasing unforgivable world that does not respect diversity of thoughts whether it be obtrusive or not. What ever happened to the phrase " We agree to disagree"?
