We see alot of men and women

We see alot of men and women fighting and dieing in Irag. But who is fighting for Democracy here? Bill Moyers is on person.

Oil is a more powerful

Oil is a more powerful weapon for extending world dominance than the atomic bomb. The Neocons know this, Israel knows this, the Christian Zionist know this, the oil companies know this, our Military knows this, They all join hands and parade for democracy to disguise their specific reason for wanting this power. The Neocons have always said that after Iraq we should" bring democracy" to Iran and Syria. Iran will chose to have oil rather than have an atomic bomb and the American people will someday chose to have oil rather than Israel and the temple Mount

It is tiresome to see this

It is tiresome to see this same "it was for oil" argument emerge to explain Bush's horror wars in the middle east. There is no shortage of oil in the world. The notion of peak oil is a fraud, It was never necessary to invade Iraq to obtain its oil, Saddam would have gladly sold us the oil for the going rate of $20-$25 a barrel. Moyers is covering for Israel. Again, We are there in the middle east because of our obeisance to Israel and it supremacists ambitions. Period.

Our Founding Fathers must be

Our Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves. The US is perceived as being the today's big, ugly bully in the world by over 70% of the rest of the other people on our planet. It is shameful our country has so lost our way. It is far past time for American citizens to reclaim our heritage and restore truth, honesty, decency, fairness, and democracy to our country. I for one am very tired of the pervasive thuggery that characterizes our leadership today under the current administration.

It looks like the Cheney

It looks like the Cheney energy/oil plan—refined during secret meetings with oil industry officials in the early days of the Bush administration—is bringing in a gusher. U.S. oil companies are now awash in money and are finally getting their hands on the coveted Iraqi oil fields. And as a lagniappe to his old buddies, Cheney has assured that Halliburton—the oilfield services company where he served as CEO before moving into the White House—makes billions in profits on the war in Iraq. To Cheney and his chauffeur-driven pals, the secret oil plan must seem sweeter than sweet crude; they reap the benefits while the American people pay the costs at the pump and on the battlefield. More than 4,000 American lives, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi dead, over 500 billion taxpayer dollars, gasoline headed for $5 a gallon, and a U.S. economy spiraling down the toilet don’t even show up on the balance sheet for these high rollers. For those who helped create it, the Cheney energy plan has been a tremendous success. For the rest of us, not so good.

I subscribe to Gnarly Eriks

I subscribe to Gnarly Eriks comments. It would be a a giant step for all of us (my thanks to Mr Armstrong) if the USA took the high road in its dealings with other nations. Being #1 should mean you try harder to maintain that status. The Bush gang is corrupt and not worthy of anyones support.

Oh geeezzzz, here we go

Oh geeezzzz, here we go again... that old argument that 'it's all about oil'. Those who actually believe this, also believe that people were better off with Saddam in power. Everyone, just chill out... it is what it is!

The oil companies should

The oil companies should have to repay the US taxpayers for every penny spent on this war and then go to jail, all of them.

Follow the money, you find

Follow the money, you find the roots of evil. Oil companies to this date buy oil at $3.00 - $6.00 /Barrel but sell it at $140 or more. Yes it was the war for oil and it will be.. They have the money and you do not! They own the government and put the people in power who listens to them and can run fools like us.. What else do you expect! Oil..... Drugs............. Weapons, is there deal Iraq... Afghanistan.. ...British/USA The British Own USA.. So the British Gov. Is the biggest profiter and American people the biggest loosers

I don't understand why

I don't understand why anyone can vote for Republicans unless you make lots of money and want to fool everyone else : Country first if it is "my wallet first". I will not vote for any of them.

God Bless America. You know

God Bless America. You know it is the freedom in this great country that allows us to finally get the truth in a neutral, unbiased, non-manipulative report like this from Bill Moyers.

I certainly believe oil is

I certainly believe oil is part of the reason. Saddam did have weapons of mass destruction. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25546334/ With all the oil under Hussein, there was no stopping him from doing whatever he wanted because he literally had an endless supply of oil money. From a military perspective, Iraq seems to be a better place for a military installation compared to Turkey. I don't know of anyone missing Saddam Hussein. Anyone can be an armchair quarterback. If I was President, I'd probably do what Bush has done. If you look at the good news from this Iraq war, more military men and women have died from motorcycle accidents in 2008 than from fighting in Iraq. I would rather be an American over in Iraq than a Taliban, Alqaeda, etc. Simply because the Tiliban, Alqaeda, etc. lives are in more danger than the Americans.
